was just talking to someone about how "gastropub" needs to be banished from the lexicon

shortly thereafter I went to a new "irish gastropub" for brunch. $15 breakfast burrito that I'm pretty sure had american cheese in it. Welcome to Forest Hills! But the saddest thing was, this place is an improvement on the current options.

i honestly like good, greasy dive bar burgers if done right way more than grassfed kobe beef w/tillamook cheddar & balsamic glase reduction sauce and shit

I accept all burgers

xp if you ask them to leave off the shit it really improves the taste

i mean i've had great burgers at places like that, but ultimately it's like you have 2 burgers, 2 fries, an app, and a few microbrews and with tip you're all of a sudden shelling out like $75 for beer and burgers and you could have gone to an actual good restaruant

prefer to go to an old school pub w/dece beers and burgers that are half the price and are no messing around half pounders. it's sort of amazing how smaller burgers that taste not nearly as good can called "best in town" or w/e if you throw on some bleu cheese and pair it with whatever IPA is currently trending.

The "gastropub" I frequent sports good mussels and croquettes for about ten bucks each. Also: hot boys.

my friend's restaurant sells this burger for like $12, they butcher the meat themselves, bake the buns, the fries are just the best thing ever, i am very happy that this gourmet burger exists because it is sensational

srsly though, a local brunch place just charged me $15 for a breakfast burrito that had crappy sausage and american cheese (came with a mimosa but I don't like drinking at brunch, especially sweet stuff). Gourmet burger is a great deal comparatively. Charging $15 for something just because it's called "brunch" is way more annoying imo.

yeah i was actually disappointed at mcdonald's line, it had been so oversold to me beforehand. i think part of it is usual internet overselling (the sort of thing that huffpo spoiler twitter thing eviscerates so easily), even here you have ppl posting mildly awkward photos to the 'so not gonna happen' thread trying (somehow simultaneously very hard and yet nowhere near hard enough) to strike gold again. where there's actual money involved it's only gonna be amplified. charles ramsey is the helmet to antoine dodson's nirvana, 'i like turtles' is the millennials 'smells like teen spirit'.

did you know you can get a freshly cooked egg on your biscuit sandwich at mcdonalds if you ask for a "round egg"? avoid the nasty pre-cooked scrambled egg patties!

p.s. mcmuffin & hashbrowns once every few years is a damn delicious treat.
