cross ocean : (

caek, Thursday, 21 March 2013 16:44 (thirteen years ago)

EMS surface imo. however, thanks to the hilarious antics of congress, the USPS no longer does surface shipping to other countries. lock in

乒乓, Thursday, 21 March 2013 16:46 (thirteen years ago)

i don't think it's actually called 'ems surface' btw. i shipped a hell of a lot of stuff overseas using surface mail and it was cheap and it got there.

I used these guys for a US to Canada move. They were fast and professional, and they specialize in not-huge moves: www.sh1psmart.c0m (un-googleproof first obv)

caek, Sunday, 24 March 2013 15:06 (thirteen years ago)

iatee, Sunday, 24 March 2013 15:18 (thirteen years ago)

in new york you dont need a cell phone you just yell HEY IM TRYINA WALK HERE and everything else pretty much takes care of itself

lag∞n, Sunday, 24 March 2013 15:20 (thirteen years ago)

are you with tmobile directly or straightalk or sovelei. seems like straightalk have stopped offering at&t network sims to new customers.

also, lol at paying for sim cards. how charming!

caek, Sunday, 24 March 2013 15:20 (thirteen years ago)

that's an xp, i don't care what network you're on lagøøn, you're probably on two yoghurt pots connected by a bit of string

tmobile has been hella shitty for me when i'm in NJ and fine in NYC

i petted a bodega cat today. (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 24 March 2013 17:48 (thirteen years ago)

t-mobile worked really bad for me in astoria so I dropped them and got verizon and it was much better. that was years ago though.

dmr, Sunday, 24 March 2013 21:46 (thirteen years ago)

yeah apparently they're in the process of making their data network 4g comaptible (before that gsm iphones worked, but only got 2g speeds), and new york was one of the first cities to get the upgrade late last year.

verizon, sprint et al. not an option (via gsm iphone). it's at&t or t-mobile.

three weeks pass...

what's the weather like in new york at the moment?

Ward Fowler, Thursday, 18 April 2013 20:43 (thirteen years ago)

meh

charlie 4chan, internet detective (Hurting 2), Thursday, 18 April 2013 20:44 (thirteen years ago)

it was really nice yesterday, it's overcast today

iatee, Thursday, 18 April 2013 20:45 (thirteen years ago)

Rain tomorrow. It's generally reliably in the 50s but there can be a chilly breeze still so unless you're right in the sun, it's cooler than you think. Nights are a little cold but you can sit outside in a sweater. High of 70 tomorrow, which I'll believe when I see it, but it shows you how unreliable things are right now.

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 May 2013 23:27 (thirteen years ago)

caek, good luck! Columbia buildings are perfectly nice and definitely convenient. I'm just bailing on it because I want to save money and be closer to friends. Still haven't found a good place (still crossing fingers on a bargain popping up in LIC, Sunnyside or Greenpoint but this is clearly optimistic), gotta be outta here by the 31st...eek.

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 9 May 2013 15:51 (thirteen years ago)

hiyo!

caek, Thursday, 9 May 2013 18:51 (thirteen years ago)

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 16 May 2013 22:46 (thirteen years ago)

mookieproof, Thursday, 16 May 2013 23:16 (thirteen years ago)

one month passes...

i have a boring coumbia apt. it sounds nice though!

caek, Monday, 17 June 2013 00:58 (thirteen years ago)

I successfully moved to Bushwick! Saving some dollars, got a nice rooftop view, roommates seem all right so far. But like I said, those Columbia buildings are perfectly nice. Roughly where's it at?

Doctor Casino, Monday, 17 June 2013 01:22 (thirteen years ago)

119 st

caek, Monday, 17 June 2013 01:32 (thirteen years ago)

looks fine on streetview

caek, Monday, 17 June 2013 01:32 (thirteen years ago)

what is the commute like from bushwick. i looked at brooklyn a little, but only along the 2/3, and all plans for non-columbia stuff fell apart when my visa got delayed

caek, Monday, 17 June 2013 01:34 (thirteen years ago)

at least an hour

乒乓, Monday, 17 June 2013 01:58 (thirteen years ago)

I've made it in 50 mins but the trains had to line up perfectly. Working on getting my bike time down/finding the perfect route. I definitely think you beat it living on 119th. ;)
