The album is subtitled Poème Symphonique (symphonic poem) but it is, in reality, a sound collage recalling the events and the violence of the May, 1968 Paris student uprising. Vangelis was in Paris when the riots occurred and they clearly had a profound impact on him as expressed by this album.

simple Vangelis euro folk mixed in with field recordings from May 1968, gunshots, screaming, marching chanting crowds, students spouting manifestos. gets increasingly spacier as it goes along.

yeah it was on the Ocean's 12 soundtrack too! I guess David Holmes heard the Cherrystones CD and liked it. I didn't know about that until after I found this record and was doing some googling to try and figure out who these dudes are. anyway I guess that song (Faust 72) is not on this record but I'll rip side b at some point. glad you liked it.

don't those dudes work together? holmes is listed as "executive producer" on some of the cherrystones comps ... maybe that's just a label thing, though.
