FIVE THINGS: That seem unnecessarily pretentious

In the mid-1990s, a group of music journalists, not content with the mildly pretentious music magazines already in print, created Pitchforkmedia.com.

The site is shamelessly riddled with pretense. For instance, reviewer Jess Harvell writes that the Field's new release is "functionally overwhelming" with "ecstatic peaks" and "ringtone-esque bursts"-- and that's just in one sentence.

Worse yet, Pitchforkmedia knows that it's supposed to hate the crunked-out trash on the radio. So it condescendingly adores rap and pop songs, dissecting every beat and lyric until any last glimmer of soul has been removed.

tuesday in nyc is a go. i have business-related business that i will be taking care of that will probably be done by the afternoon/early evening at the latest, so i'll be free all night (albeit hanging with idolxor m4ur4) and heading back late-late tuesday night/early-early wednesday morn if y'all wanna do something.

what times is trivia?

it starts at 8. you guys could mc it, but then maybe you would miss your tren. last week there was controversy because during the winona ryder quote category, the dude did his courtney love impersonation and most people guessed bobcat goldthwait based on the impersonation.
