amon (eman), Friday, 26 August 2005 22:57 (twenty years ago)

Municipal Waste is contemp. thrash band outta VA. very DRI influenced. They just signed to earache, new album out Sept 20....TOTAL PARTY THRASH. Lots of fun....its hard to tell by one song, they work better in a WHOLE RECORD SCENARIO

Peer Raben - The Tears of the Lady

aka 'Each Man Kills The Things He Loves'.

composed for the soundtrack Fassbinder's "Querelle", but used again in Wong Kar Wei's "2046". which I'm probably going to have to see again very soon.

milton parker (Jon L), Sunday, 28 August 2005 03:07 (twenty years ago)

this thread is perhaps the grebtest thing.

bruce haack and esther nelson - "soul transportation" from 1972's dance to the music

you can tell the people that heard this record as children apart from others by their stare

milton parker (Jon L), Sunday, 28 August 2005 03:28 (twenty years ago)

Dunkelziffer In the Night

80s kraut feat. Damo. To be blunt but unkind, the short songs that make up the middle of the album flat out suck. But the kraut meets Roxy Music jams that start and end the album make it more than worthwhile.

chëshy (chëshy f cat), Sunday, 28 August 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

fe7 (FE7), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:04 (twenty years ago)

i bussed tables at the "inn of the seventh ray" in topanga, where elizabeth clare prophet was a regular customer, and where most of the employees were involved with her church. we chanted before every shift and many years later i can still bust out a good "violet fire" or "lord michael".

deerhoof - blood on the floor

dan (dan), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:19 (twenty years ago)

is the prophet a rip of side two of american doomsday cults volume 14, or something else?

Esplendor Geométrico - Héroe Del Trabajo - El Acero Del Partido I

http://www.discogs.com/release/315215

milton parker (Jon L), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:23 (twenty years ago)

i went to a party last night at my friend eric's new place and the girl from deerhoof was there. she must be 4 foot 6. it was only white guys and only asian girls (myself and the wife included). lots of from japan japanese girls. gygax would have been in heaven. but j0hn dwy3r was there and so gygax would have been angry because he would have stolen his woman

JAXON (jaxon), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:34 (twenty years ago)

Does gygax like Japanese stuff?

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:38 (twenty years ago)

I've been playing the Sims 2 a lot and part of me wants to reenact this party with a gygax! sim with a little red minus sign over his head making the "smells bad" emote at the Dwey3r sim.

Last one!

Cowsills-Le Opere Di Bartolemeo

It reminds me of Os Mutantes towards the end, kinda. Also, atrocious sound quality, even for me. Sorry.

internet comedy novice (Matt Chesnut), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 05:17 (twenty years ago)

p.s. - Sorry about WMA.

internet comedy novice (Matt Chesnut), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 05:18 (twenty years ago)

ahhh, just realized the Sol Hoopii is old hawaiian stuff. it's not what i was expecting. i thought it was gonna be lap steel slide stuff, but it's more folk blues with barbershop harmonies. weird.

JAXON (jaxon), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 05:29 (twenty years ago)

Brainticket - Jardins

JAXON (jaxon), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 06:01 (twenty years ago)

I’ve been drinking deep from that source for a few weeks now. Mostly classical. There are some staggering finds in there. Transfer quality is all over the place. Everything from pro-amateur to “the lp started skipping and I didn’t notice for 8 minutes but fuck it”. The Boston Public Library sub-collection seems to all be pretty well done but only about half of those are downloadable.

valet doberman (Jon not Jon), Monday, 27 January 2020 23:38 (six years ago)

feel free to share the staggering finds! <3
