Is that Vol de Nuit? I went on a date there once, the date was ill-fated but the bar was lovely, has frites and a beautiful, enclosed front courtyard for outside sitting.

Okay people -- I think Lauren & Shasta are making an effort to meet up but as for me, I think I might be doing a bar visit in Bushyick and a party that Jon knows about, because I really like the guy who's throwing it. However am open to suggestions, so txt away. I will also be biking unless it pours rain, so I can swing up to greenpoint or etc if called for.

It is, of course, supposed to thunderstorm tonight, but that's what they said LAST Friday, and I don't think it rained a drop here.

A friend of mine who spent a lot of time in Europe recently chastised me for referring to anything that's not a large, open space as a "beer garden." I suppose she's right - it is sort of wanky, not to mention inaccurate to call bars "beer gardens" just because they are German or Belgian themed.

it has outdoor space tho

but I guess so do a lot of other regular bars wit patios

In the mid-1990s, a group of music journalists, not content with the mildly pretentious music magazines already in print, created Pitchforkmedia.com.

The site is shamelessly riddled with pretense. For instance, reviewer Jess Harvell writes that the Field's new release is "functionally overwhelming" with "ecstatic peaks" and "ringtone-esque bursts"-- and that's just in one sentence.

Worse yet, Pitchforkmedia knows that it's supposed to hate the crunked-out trash on the radio. So it condescendingly adores rap and pop songs, dissecting every beat and lyric until any last glimmer of soul has been removed.
