thanks guys. we'll figure this out. i will be in a bar mood i think forks, but thanks anyway!

right now i am dealing with the airbnb hosts of brooklyn, who are all dreadful and unreliable. third booked host cancelled on me this am. if anyone has a lead for a 1BR/studio i could rent/borrow from june 4-10 then i would be v grateful. erica: if i don't sort something out then i will come to boston. no joke.

caek, Tuesday, 29 May 2012 20:18 (fourteen years ago)

boston is not a joking matter. (well i guess it kind of is, at least that's what i learnt from recent movies set there.)

caek, Tuesday, 29 May 2012 20:18 (fourteen years ago)

catbus otm (gbx), Wednesday, 30 May 2012 01:59 (fourteen years ago)

wait shit i didn't catch the "not"

catbus otm (gbx), Wednesday, 30 May 2012 01:59 (fourteen years ago)

caek re the date of June 9, I am loosely planning to have a house party on that day. I don't know that it will be partic organized or like fancy or anything, but goddamnit I can't keep putting off having my friends over because it's not "perfect" "yet".

how did I get here? why am I in the whiskey aisle? this is all so (Laurel), Wednesday, 30 May 2012 02:10 (fourteen years ago)

caek u better show up this time

mookieproof, Wednesday, 30 May 2012 02:15 (fourteen years ago)

mookie assuming i don't have to spend the week figuring out sofas to sleep on and getting i will show up this time. new york is a tumultuous town, i find!

i fly to el paso at 6am or something on june 10, so party on june 9 is either a terrible or amazing idea. keep me posted!

caek, Wednesday, 30 May 2012 09:24 (fourteen years ago)

is there a particularly good iphone app for the MTA/subway? offline maps, route planner, etc. there seem to be hundreds of them.

caek, Friday, 1 June 2012 12:31 (fourteen years ago)

Uh I don't know because a) I have an android, and b) I don't use a route planner, I just look at a map.

how did I get here? why am I in the whiskey aisle? this is all so (Laurel), Friday, 1 June 2012 13:35 (fourteen years ago)

you sort of dont need one, theres maps all over. if you are going to get one id recommend something that shows you an actual map of the city with subways laid over it, since the official MTA map isnt really accurate aboveground

max, Friday, 1 June 2012 13:39 (fourteen years ago)

hmm yeah i guess. i just don't have brooklyn very clear in my head, so something offline would be good. and the subway is a struggle for the first few days every time.

all set with fancy new digs via airbnb crediting me with $$$ for screwing me around : )

caek, Friday, 1 June 2012 13:49 (fourteen years ago)

Hopstop is probably the best route planner. You would need to be online but if you're doing the subway on the weekends an offline map isn't going to help much, you'd be screwed without knowing the weekend service changes.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hopstop/id303217144?mt=8

For aboveground I just use google maps.

dmr, Friday, 1 June 2012 17:23 (fourteen years ago)

Hopstop is a little bit crazy, though. One of the main roads near my place has a bend in it, and Hopstop directions treat it like a turn. "Turn right onto Xxxx" is very confusing when you are already ON Xxxx.

Paper map from the booth is your friend. Also the system is pretty simple and easy to learn, but hard to view on the iPhone screen.

Joy Indian imo. Still the most velvety and multi-note korma sauce I have ever had, although I haven't been there in a few years.

please do!

40oz of tears (Jordan), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 14:27 (thirteen years ago)

I'm pretty much a gimp right now, but do you have a guess as to show start/end time?

Pangborn to be Wilde (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 14:54 (thirteen years ago)

glasslands tends to run on the 10-2 schedule iirc.

one dis leads to another (ian), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 15:11 (thirteen years ago)

they have an early show (8:30) that night, so i think our show starts at 11:00? hopefully it will run tight since there are so many acts, everyone is doing 1/2 hr sets. i guess since everyone but me is a dj there should be very little change-over time.

40oz of tears (Jordan), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 16:37 (thirteen years ago)

you got a website? I'm curious what you do if you don't dj

"Batshit crazy," the foam clog tycoon said. (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 17:11 (thirteen years ago)
