i bet the night court writing team was glad to have such a fantastic cast. they knew that no matter what they wrote, the actors could handle the challenge. they weren't afraid to "stretch"

so many funny things happened in that court. 9 seasons worth of really funny things.

My boss, who's a few years younger than me, says he was forbidden to watch "Night Court". "Cheers" pushed the line a little bit, but "Night Court" was too risque.

I attribute a lot of my humor to watching Night Court at a young age. For some reason it was cool with my parents. Also, I think a local station started running the syndicated episodes pretty much as soon as it went into syndication.

It's a show I associate strongly with mid-80s me who was feeling certain ways but didn't yet know it was called depression. And the time of night and the look and feel of it all just fits right in there with all that. How did I watch so many episodes? Probably hundreds. Or 50 of them several times each. And how many times did I laugh? Probably not that much. And yet you continue watching. There were probably some good gags when they'd have the parade of then-current standup comics and character actors come in for a minute for the obligatory courtroom hearing.
