They should do like Nine Inch Nails' "Halo [number]" thing and call them Head 7, Head 8, etc.

im not making this up

Kenneth Toilethole (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:14 (fourteen years ago)

aww man, so if i want to search for information about the seventh radiohead record i can't just type "lp7" into a search bar? how bothersome

akadarbarijava (psychgawsple), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:17 (fourteen years ago)

dude obv there's going to be more Google hits on radiohead than any other band

an elk hunt (Ówen P.), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:18 (fourteen years ago)

Yes, because Radiohead have the most insufferable fans, not because they're the most popular band to ever make a 7th record

Kenneth Toilethole (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:21 (fourteen years ago)

"Sigggggh, I love Philip Larkin..."

No problem w/ Larkin but can't help reading those as hard g's when they're lined up like that & it is a bit vexing.

boxall, Monday, 12 March 2012 20:21 (fourteen years ago)

A quick survey indicates that LP4 mostly hits Ratatat (who's album was called LP4). LP5 hits National fans talking about "High Violet" and uhhhh Coldplay talking about "Mylo Xyloto". LP6 hits Black Keys fans talking about that. LP7 is Radiohead.

an elk hunt (Ówen P.), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:22 (fourteen years ago)

LP8 is Radiohead too

Kenneth Toilethole (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:23 (fourteen years ago)

and LP9 is Radiohead. Packs of fucking bronies with creative writing degrees, afaic

Kenneth Toilethole (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:26 (fourteen years ago)

how many big successful bands have made a seventh record during the internet age?

flagp∞st (dayo), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:26 (fourteen years ago)

Jay-Z?

Kenneth Toilethole (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:28 (fourteen years ago)

Sure they have obsessed fans but if it wasn't Radiohead it'd be some other band.
anyway considering WCC's sensitivity I think the thread title is understandable

I just searched for "Jay-Z" "LP7" and "Jay-Z" "LP8" and the second hit on both searches was Radiohead, ha, touché

an elk hunt (Ówen P.), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:29 (fourteen years ago)

haha what - you read that "siguhguhguhguhguhguhguh?"

bosomy English rose (thomp), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:29 (fourteen years ago)

I was ok with that thread title until I learned that "cheesecake" was used purely in a perving on band members sense. And that "white chocolate" was the name of a radiohead fan forum. I... had not connected those things. It is what it is.

valleys of your mind (mh), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:30 (fourteen years ago)

i know this is unrelated to the question at hand but lol at whiney responding to "how many big successful bands have made a seventh record during the internet age?" with four individual people

I'm glad there's a place we can talk about how terrible Radiohead fans are because I sure as hell am not gonna do it in that thread

Kenneth Toilethole (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:34 (fourteen years ago)

radiohead seem like ok british dudes and I dig some of their music but daaaaaaamn, people

tbf jay-z announced the titles of his 7th and 8th albums (blueprint 2 and the black album) like a year ahead of time, also this was kinda pre-blog anticipation insanity (and it's different w/ rap fans in a lot of other ways anyway)

some dude, Monday, 12 March 2012 20:36 (fourteen years ago)

sorry, this isn't the place for that either

valleys of your mind (mh), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:36 (fourteen years ago)

no, you're right, some dude, radiohead is the only famous artist to release a 7th album in the internet age; awesome job poking holes in my argument, I am shamed

Kenneth Toilethole (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:37 (fourteen years ago)

i wasn't even a part of that discussion dude i was just responding to owen's tangent

some dude, Monday, 12 March 2012 20:58 (fourteen years ago)

obv not the "only famous band" but def the "most famous band on the internet"

an elk hunt (Ówen P.), Monday, 12 March 2012 20:59 (fourteen years ago)

haha the LP8 was not what bothers me fwiw

more the kinda passive aggressive victim/bully calling attn to itself nature of the thread title in question

a little tiny crunk person (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 12 March 2012 21:21 (fourteen years ago)

1. "Do not read if you hate us" is one of the oldest ILX memes there is, it is long established and was an in-joke with another poster who had been around as long as I had, who recognised it.

2. Did you ever stop to think that just maybe, stupid meta clusterfuck shit like this is the reason that ppl like me are so "~sensitive~" in the first place?

Masonic Boom, Monday, 12 March 2012 21:30 (fourteen years ago)

1. no
2. kinda

a little tiny crunk person (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 12 March 2012 21:31 (fourteen years ago)

yeah it's definitely upper mississippi shakedown's fault for finding a meta angle in a thread that has "Do not read if you hate Radiohead or us" in the title

Kenneth Toilethole (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 12 March 2012 21:32 (fourteen years ago)

more the kinda passive aggressive victim/bully calling attn to itself nature of the thread title in question

with an added dose of GET THE FUCK OVER YOURSELF ALREADY.

desk calendar white out (Matt P), Monday, 12 March 2012 21:33 (fourteen years ago)

also masonic i mean if i'm one of the big "meta" villains in your mind on ILX well, i don't even know....in the interest of not being passive agressive i think it's really annoying the way you act like you "own" your threads, even your artwork thread which your art is really cool IMO, and at the same time you couldn't wait to gang up on contenderizer on his "why do i always get involved in clusterfucks" thread which i thought was pretty fucking rich

^^ i'm restraining myself from going on the thread and complaining about the title.

there's this thing, that people do, where they identify a vibe they like in particular tracks, and ask for recommendations of other tracks with a similar vibe.

Feminist Theory & "Women's Issues" Discussion Thread: All Gender Identities Are Encouraged To Participate

i don't believe in zimmerman (Hurting 2), Thursday, 5 April 2012 16:05 (fourteen years ago)

to be clear, it's just the "All Gender Identities Are Encouraged To Participate" part, as though, IDK, the transsexuals of ILX might otherwise be unsure whether the thread was a safe space for them

i don't believe in zimmerman (Hurting 2), Thursday, 5 April 2012 16:07 (fourteen years ago)

seems like a harmless and possibly helpful disclaimer to me, esp since otherwise a feminism thread would pretty quickly turn into a lot of "why are so many dudes posting in here, should they?" etc

tbh, + this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone i guess, i can't even remember why i made that title. i assume i had something in mind but it was awhile ago and i was - uh - inebriated.

Mordy, Saturday, 7 April 2012 16:10 (fourteen years ago)

feminist theory title kinda designed to make me never look at it. nothing against the people on it or whoever started it, just titles like that in general...
