'Scary Move 4' is the kind of meaninglessly benign typo that cracks me up so much for some reason

some dude, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:23 (fourteen years ago)

lol i was rushing to quote "Scary Move"

Shh, gonzo. The Nanny is coming.

pplains, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

i'm at work, who's gonna be the first to rule 34 Nanny from the Muppet Babies

smangarang (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:26 (fourteen years ago)

I was just trying to stay away from the obvious FOZ joke.

pplains, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:27 (fourteen years ago)

Scary Move 4 is the name of my dance instructional video.

simulation and similac (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:30 (fourteen years ago)

who was it who had the whole rant about how many weird layers of abstraction there are in muppet babies? like...it's a cartoon version, of baby versions, of puppet versions of various species of animals? it really is pretty fucked up

some dude, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:30 (fourteen years ago)

lol I never thought about that, that would make a good academic paper

iatee, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:31 (fourteen years ago)

they're also extraordinarily small even for babies when you compare them to nanny's socks. But I guess if muppets are smaller than people, their babies would be smaller than human babies.

simulation and similac (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:31 (fourteen years ago)

I think the that scale might have been to show how big and scary everything (including grownups) are to babies? Whole knows. I think y'all are now officially thinking too hard 'bout muppet babies.

wolf kabob (ENBB), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:32 (fourteen years ago)

Whole knows

what?

who knows, obv

wolf kabob (ENBB), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

wait actually looking at images of it now they're not as small as I remembered. I think I may be remembering the live stage version of the cartoon version of baby versions of puppet versions of various species of animals

simulation and similac (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

haha holy shit

some dude, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:34 (fourteen years ago)

they puppetified the cartoonified puppets!? man

some dude, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:34 (fourteen years ago)

Yes! My friend's parents took me.

This is the funniest thing. I could read this post all day

smangarang (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:35 (fourteen years ago)

the cartoon version of baby versions

Not to remove a layer from your theory but technically they are "cartoon/baby versions" of a puppet since there was never a non-cartoon baby version to play off of until later. This is only one layer

smangarang (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 17:38 (fourteen years ago)

I think there were baby versions of Kermit and Miss Piggy in one of the movies.

beachville, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:06 (fourteen years ago)

The Muppets Take Manhattan is the third in a series of feature films starring the Muppets. It was the first film solely directed by Frank Oz, who also performs Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy and Animal in the film.
The film introduced the Muppet Babies (toddler versions of the Muppet characters in a flashback/dream sequence). The Muppet Babies later received their own Saturday morning cartoon, which aired from 1984 to 1992.

beachville, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:07 (fourteen years ago)

Oh right, forgot about that. Muppet Babies: Origins.

Wow, '84 - '92 is a long run for a cartoon. No wonder I feel like I've watched so much of it.

simulation and similac (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:12 (fourteen years ago)

jesus you guys didn't grow up wstching rugrats too did you? hate that fucking show. and i like most of the stuff my kids like. but i won't let them put rugrats on in my presence. feel like that show was around for decades.

scott seward, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:25 (fourteen years ago)

rugrats was alright

simulation and similac (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:26 (fourteen years ago)

animated versions of infantilized puppet versions of puppet versions of animals
^can we make this longer?

Pup Shalom Dog Costume (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:27 (fourteen years ago)

muppet babies kinda just as terrible as rugrats come to think of it.

scott seward, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:28 (fourteen years ago)

rugrats was after my time. I caught a few episodes of it in passing. only thing I remember is one of them calling diapers "diapies" which infuriated me for some reason.

beachville, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:28 (fourteen years ago)

h8ted rugrats, watched the shit out of muppet babies

catbus otm (gbx), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:38 (fourteen years ago)

rugrats kinda hit every nerve for me cuz i hated the animation, hated their voices, and i thought it was totally unfunny. plus, the fact that it was sorta knowingly made for parents and kids to watch - parenting/child-rearing humor all the time with the horrible adult characters - made it even worse.

scott seward, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:40 (fourteen years ago)

yeah every character on Rugrats looked like they barely survived fetal alcohol syndrome or something

smangarang (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:43 (fourteen years ago)

well yeah but it's a cartoon depiction of babies etc. a layer is a layer.

some dude, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:47 (fourteen years ago)

to clarify there really is someone else who came up w/ this observation about Muppet Babies before me and i genuinely can't remember who, although since nobody else has pointed it out itt i'm guessing it wasn't an ilxor or anyone famous

some dude, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:48 (fourteen years ago)

carrot top iirc

Pup Shalom Dog Costume (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:50 (fourteen years ago)

how do you start that off with "not to remove a layer"?

meticulously showcased in a stunning fart presentation (contenderizer), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 20:34 (fourteen years ago)

through being disingenuous

valleys of your mind (mh), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 20:35 (fourteen years ago)

it wasn't carrot top, that was forks's idea of "funny" (which, as we all know, needs scarequotes as much as carrot top's idea of "funny")

some dude, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 20:57 (fourteen years ago)

hey forks i think we might both think this is funny: kyle

⚓ (gr8080), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 22:32 (fourteen years ago)

Christ you guys are making me feel old. Muppet Babies? Rugrats!? I was already in my 20s when this shit was around.

Medical Dance Crab With Lesson (Trayce), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 23:16 (fourteen years ago)

haha, wikipedia is with you:

]The show portrays childhood versions of the Muppets living together in a large nursery in the care of a human woman called Nanny (the whereabouts of their parents are never addressed).

Muppet Babies was some scary shit

casper the friendly ghost is rolling his dead kid eyes at all of you

bnw, Thursday, 8 March 2012 00:04 (fourteen years ago)

I remember the muppet babies were always in these massive desolate landscapes like outer space or something. Their "playroom" was really massive and cavernous.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 8 March 2012 00:15 (fourteen years ago)

that was the power of imagination you dool

only thing worse than muppet babies was tiny toons

⚓ (gr8080), Thursday, 8 March 2012 00:53 (fourteen years ago)

tiny toons were bad, but at least had a bit of ambition and wit. worst thing abt that show was its fan culture.
