i had called the landlord an hour after viewing the place and said i would take it. but apparently within that time, he had already showed it to someone else and they took it on the spot. so he offered me a smaller unit in the same building and gave me the two months free rent as compensation! it seemed like he was just desperate to rent it. but it's pretty nice!

happy that my architecture class is awesome and the project seems really endlessly interesting.

(the focus of the class is the usc-owned fr33m@n house in hollywood, and in addition to traditional "preservation" stuff we're asked to dig around in archives and put together the fragments of the building's not very well-compiled history, and also come up with a way to make the restoration effort kind of a living monument to all the changes the house has gone through, rather than just a faithful reproduction of the way it was in 1925 when flw completed his work on it. i think they're interested in preserving some artifacts of the house's earthquake damage, some of the decay from years of neglect, etc., to tell a story.)

i didn't get into teh choir but that is okay - it is not b/c i am a terrible singer (though i am not astounding or anything) but b/c i am a terrible sight reader! it is serious choir. they asked me to audition again in jan if i want. anyway, i really should finally learn to sight read for singing purposes, something i've been meaning to do for like a year. so i'm gonna do that why not
