my professors in college were always complaining about how Comp Sci majors would end up looking bad b/c it was so much harder to get an A in their classes as opposed to Baby Psychology
baby psychology was presumably repeated because:1. it really sounds like you are just throwing out a fluffy bullshit example thing, like "underwater basket weaving" but "baby psychology" would actually be really fucking complex, because babies don't talk2. I don't know that most schools would have an actual baby psychology department or major?3. It was just a really weird choice, when you could have said English or undergrad psych or art history or something

i long for the reality in which the study of small childrens minds is for real known as 'baby psychology' for it is surely more hospitable than our own

OK lol. Speaking as the putative zing-slinger in that "Baby Psychology" post (which I agree wasn't a zing), mh has mostly got it: I was struck by the usage of the seemingly made-up "Baby Psychology" (instead of developmental/child psychology), the randomness of the example, and the odd implication that "baby psychology" was a breeze.
― jaymc, Friday, 27 January 2012 20:19 (fourteen years ago)
maybe it's psychology for babies, that'd have to be a pretty easy course

― teaky frigger (darraghmac), Friday, 27 January 2012 20:42 (fourteen years ago)
all I can say is that the "Baby Psychology" thing was kind of an in-joke among the professors at the college I went to, it's not really supposed to mean anything, it's simultaneously a joke about easy majors and comp sci people not understanding humans at all
― frogs you are the dumbest asshole (frogbs), Friday, 27 January 2012 21:46 (fourteen years ago)
