Dan I: it sounds a lot like "ringing the bell" from the idjut's first phantom slasher LP (but i always thought that was a re-edit of "trinidad"?!?) and it sounds a bit like dj harvey's "disco adventure" too
― moonship journey to baja, Monday, 1 October 2007 18:39 (eighteen years ago)
I thought that said pj harvey's "disco adventure" which was a new one on me.

Closer Musik - Giganten
funny how this track never ended up on any kompakt comps or mixes. it was in every tobias thomas set before he replaced it with that lame-ass pachulke & sohn track.
― ☪, Sunday, 7 October 2007 19:44 (eighteen years ago)
That whole album is brilliant, Closer Musik were the shit.

By request of Milton, here's disc 1 of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier Book II played by Sergey Schepkin in 1999.

He's recorded both books of the WTC, the Goldbergs, and the Partitas, but I only own the WTC sets. He's fantastic throughout.

Group Inerane is the now sound of the Tuareg Guitar Revolution sweeping across the Sahara Desert and inspired by the rebel musicians that started this music as a political weapon used to communicate from the Libyan Refugee camps in the 1980s and 1990s. Spearheaded by the enigmatic guitar hero Bibi Ahmed, Group Inerane has been together for several years and carries the rich tradition of Tamachek guitar songs for another generation. These ten tracks are a combination of amplified roots rock, blues, and folk in the local Tuareg styles at times entering into full-on electric guitar psychedelia. This music is performed with two electric guitars, a drum kit and a chorus of vocalists. The recordings were captured live in the city of Agadez in the Republic of Niger. Group Inerane was also featured in the Sublime Frequencies DVD “Niger: Magic and Ecstasy in the Sahel”. Recorded by Hisham Mayet, this is the second Sublime Frequencies Vinyl Release. 180 gram vinyl, full-color gatefold jacket, and limited one-time pressing of 1000 copies.

Biggest tragedy is that ryko 2cd anthology being OOP. First EP was on there, and first 7", and so many great live versions.
The proper albums are being reissued in the coming year but who knows if the 2CD anthology stuff will make it.

An Artist’s Words
To some eyes the words “Portslade Massif” scrawled in white emulsion paint across the window and wall of the Ink-d Gallery in Brighton, England, appeared to be the work of vandals. So the graffiti team employed by the Brighton and Hove City Council scrubbed them off, the BBC reported. The words were a slogan created by James Cauty to advertise his exhibition “The Rize and Fall of the Portslade Massif” at the gallery, which stands on private property. The erasure prompted Dan Hipkin, the gallery director, to ask, “Who holds the right to say what is and isn’t a form of expression?” He said he believed that the cleaners feared that the slogan, referring to the exhibition’s theme of gang culture, would ignite local gang warfare. The council called the removal a “genuine mistake.” Mr. Cauty, a member of the 1990s bands the KLF and the Orb, along with a bandmate, Bill Drummond, once burned £1 million ($2 million at today’s exchange rates) in KLF royalties.
