Over 100 posts of meta-bullshit because someone asked someone else not to use their name.

I asked nicely on the Sandbox. I asked nicely several times. I'm not sure how many times I have to ask before I'm ~allowed~ to get tetchy. I don't actually think that there is any way on earth that is nice enough to satisfy people who clearly don't recognise me AT ALL when I'm posting all day without any attempt to conceal who I am, yet just run in here the moment they see trouble, to post shit like:

There was no reason to turn this into a 100+ post clusterfuck. A poster doesn't want their real name used. And yet *this* is what happened EVERY GOD DAMN TIME someone decides to get meta about me. Yes, I'm perfectly capable of being a nice, reasonable, interesting poster when I'm talking about what I came here to talk about - music, feminist politics, whatever. But if you think I'm not being a ~nice~ person you might look in the mirror and try to think about what it's like to be at the bottom of 100+ post clusterfucks every time someone decides to get meta about you.

I know this is going to sound victim blaming, but when people constantly go "what did you expect?" But this time, the moment that someone started asking who I was and would not leave it alone - I knew to expect a massive clusterfuck of pearl-clutching and concern trolling and people starting beef with me because THEY KNOW THAT NO ONE WILL STOP IT. If you think I'm paranoid, try to imagine what it would be like to have to put up with all of this every time someone mentions your name.

just1n3's point about eggshells is exactly right. This thread actually gave me the impression that first names were prohibited (I hardly touched the sandbox so I didn't see any of your requests).

Also re entitlement: if you expect to come to a board under a ~veil of mystery~ and remain anonymous, people will be curious about who you are. This is ilx. That's what happens. The only entitlement I see here is yours, to your anonymity.

I will never understand why anyone who posts *anything* on the internet that is personal then gets bothered that "the public" are discussing it/analysing it/wtf ever. The internet is a public forum. Dont kid yourself ILX - even 77 - is otherwise. There are people who can and have repost shit from here elsewhere. You leave yourself exposed to comment if you discuss anything personal online.

The '100 post clusterfuck' is just, you know, discussion on a message board, what are we supposed to do? We can't make hand signals at one another. We type. And there are more then just a couple of people on ILX, so yes, there's bound to be 100 posts after any person's post. But if you bring unnecessary drama to a thread over -nothing!- (as people have pointed out - YOU are the one who has posted under your real name, AND continually change your name (but not your posting style!) so that the only common identifier we have is your name - yes, we're going to have a chuckle over that. Everyone here calls me FFM, even those who knows my real name (Lex - hi everyone!) because we typically call a person whatever they're known to post under.

Own your mental issues. My sister and father have both been in psych wards and it was not because of 'internet bullying.' It was because they have mental illness. Do not blame us for your ability to find drama in a crack in a sidewalk!
