mh, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:27 (fourteen years ago)

In general there is no no first names thing tbh.

ENBB, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:27 (fourteen years ago)

like the veil of secrecy around markers -- I have heard who he might be irl, and it is a good thing most people don't know. you'd be surprised!

mh, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:28 (fourteen years ago)

Are his initials JG?

stet, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:29 (fourteen years ago)

people call me by my first name regularly enough considering i have a pretty unusual first name.

judith, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:34 (fourteen years ago)

some ppl might have said, 'yes it is i, who have been posting here for a decade under various names including my real name. but i'd much prefer you no longer used my first name, thx.'

mookieproof, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:34 (fourteen years ago)

judith is an unusual first name for a boy

sarahel, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:35 (fourteen years ago)

Right but it's also very possible that not every single person on ILX saw that request, you know?

ENBB, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:37 (fourteen years ago)

i like that i can come back to ilx after like, 2(?) years and everything is exactly the same.

i'm nick, and i approve of this message.

NZA, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:39 (fourteen years ago)

that is true. some ppl might kindly reiterate their request rather than coin the phrase 'fucking curtain-twitching busybodies' tho

Autumn Almanac (Schlafsack), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:40 (fourteen years ago)

i came here intending to post a long list of names that i'm sure all other ilxors would recognize but i wouldn't after such a long absence and be like "lol, i got old". but that doesn't seem fum now.

NZA, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:40 (fourteen years ago)

Right that's what I'm saying. Maybe not everyone saw it so calling them "fucking curtain-twitching busybodies" seemed pretty harsh.

ENBB, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:42 (fourteen years ago)

YEah I'm confused. Are we all sposed to know about some "legal trouble" that happened? Is it fair to expect people to? I have nfi what any of this is about.

― call all destroyer, Monday, January 16, 2012 8:02 PM (1 minute ago)

it's like when your curtain like an inch or so too high or low, but it's perfectly unwrinkled, so you don't want to take it down and re-hang it or even pull on one end for fear that the whole thing'll get messed up, so you just grab the high end and sort of give it a little yank so it moves ever-so-slighly how you want it to. i guess it could be more accurately termed "curtain yanking" or "curtain tugging"

tebow gotti (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:07 (fourteen years ago)

I was hoping this was a Willie Monks ref!

This song was composed in the flowery West
By a man you may never have seen –––––
Oh I'll tell you his name, but it is not in full,
His initials are J.R.G.

no more mr. nice girls (Abbbottt), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:08 (fourteen years ago)

I thought it referred to the specific motion of a curtain that someone is hiding behind and attempting to jerk off without being noticed

mh, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:10 (fourteen years ago)

poll: have you ever jerked off behind a curtain y/n

i myself have not

mookieproof, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:13 (fourteen years ago)

mookieproof, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:13 (fourteen years ago)

lol, I thought it was re pulling back the wizard of oz's curtain rather twitchily

Autumn Almanac (Schlafsack), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:13 (fourteen years ago)

some ppl are fine w/ u using their first name on ilx -- this person isn't, and of course that's fine too!

― markers, Monday, January 16, 2012 7:26 PM (46 minutes ago) Bookmark

this really. I mean we have accommodated other posters who have specifically asked (maybe in nicer terms) no gov names be used on ILX. so I don't see why we can't in this instance

dayo, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:15 (fourteen years ago)

I thought it was re pulling back the wizard of oz's curtain rather twitchily

that would make mh toto and ____ the great and powerful oz, which doesn't seem to quite fit

mookieproof, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:16 (fourteen years ago)

lol, I thought it was re pulling back the wizard of oz's curtain rather twitchily

"pulling back the wizard of oz's curtain" is my least favorite sex act

Autumn Almanac (Schlafsack), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:17 (fourteen years ago)

can a very common first name by itself be considered a 'govt name', just in general like, i always assumed 'govt name' referred to yr full name in googleable format tbh

modric conservative (darraghmac), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:26 (fourteen years ago)

all (or most) kidding aside, i honestly value ____'s contributions when he/she does not have an itchy trigger finger. i thought some of the stuff he/she said on the sandbox girls thread was fantastic, i enjoy his/her take on various musics, and i thought his/her ws contributions were both spot-on and fun, for example.

interacting with ____ seems to be a question of when, not if, one offends him/her terribly, however. perhaps he/she is right to be offended, perhaps not, but its occurrence is depressingly inevitable. and that's too bad for everyone.

mookieproof, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:27 (fourteen years ago)

iirc 'judith' doesn't even spell their name properly irl, adding to the confusion

buzza, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:34 (fourteen years ago)

this is not intended as a mod rule decision but if i am being honest the idea that posting a first name is in any way equatable to posting a government name is flat out ridiculous. i def try not to use first names unless its clearly ok with said poster, and def wont if it seems clear they prefer it otherwise (hi aero) but this was a bit of an overreaction in my book.

agreed!

mh, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:49 (fourteen years ago)

well I thought the ws contributions per sandbox were kind of creepy but I was a government-sent name-stalker and way creepy myself for remember who people are from minute to minute

ever get the feeling that people find it weird when you remember them because they have no idea who you are?

mh, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:51 (fourteen years ago)

i would find it weird if i changed screen names constantly and ppl still remembered me, because i am a relative non-entity. ____ is a tsunami among posters, tho
