I've posted this about 8 times in the last half hour:
Hey-
For about 6 years the Acute Records website was just a single white page with a bit of text and the phrase "new site soon" up top. Finally, about a year ago, it had a "design", some sort of Acute house style, but was still just a tease. Then, after much work and with a great deal of help from Rob from Catsup Plate, we got a real website up there. But I didn't officially "announce" it because I was waiting to start the Acute blog. So after a few more months, and with a great deal of help from Max of artificeeternity.com, we finally set up the blog. And I still didn't say anything. I had posted an initial intro post, but wanted to wait until there was a more substantial post. Well now there is, so I'm here to tell you about it.
Consider the Acute Records website officially "launched"! You can see it here: http://acuterecords.com
And feel free to check out the Acute Records Blog here: http://acuterecords.com/blog/
Why a blog? Why not. You can read all about it in the first post, but basically the blog will be an outlet for the discussion of music, the stuff we're releasing, the stuff we want to release, the stuff we wished we released. Old music, new music, tours, radio, interviews etc. Like the original Acute geocities website, it'll mostly just be the rants of a fan, nothing too authoritative or academic. Hopefully it will be fun, maybe a bit informative and maybe a bit funny at times.
My goal is to have at least one post a week because I want to make sure you come back and keep checking it...I want to be in your RSS reader, I want to be in your blogroll. Most importantly, I want you to comment and take part. The first real post is up, an extensive and excessive summation of my appearance on the Beats in Space radio show. Don't worry, I'll probably never post anything that long again.
So please come check it out and let me know what you think. We're still working the kinks out but I'm pretty psyched about it. And look for the Fire Engines CD Hungry Beat on October 2nd and for news beyond that...well you'll have to join the mailing list and keep checking the blog!
Thanks,
Dan

oh, please do. you don't talk about music on ILX/Noize nearly as much as you should
― jaxon, Friday, 13 July 2007 17:04 (eighteen years ago)
there's probably a good reason for that.
― dan selzer, Friday, 13 July 2007 17:18 (eighteen years ago)
unless you're being self depreciating, i think i understand what you're talking about. keeping yr precious little secrets to yrself. no?
― jaxon, Friday, 13 July 2007 17:30 (eighteen years ago)
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TURN OFF THAT LIL PENIS KID VIDEO!?
― jaxon, Friday, 13 July 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)
keeping secrets only because there's stuff I want to release and I don't want someone else to do it first, or worse yet, everyone to go download everything and get all bored and jaded "oh I can't believe you're putting that 20 year old record out, that's soooo last year". That and I haven't always enjoyed discussing music on ILX. Shocking, no?
― dan selzer, Friday, 13 July 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)
Everyone has secrets.
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 13 July 2007 17:56 (eighteen years ago)
those are exactly the secrets i thought you were talking about.
― jaxon, Friday, 13 July 2007 17:59 (eighteen years ago)
SECRETS AND LIES
― sanskrit, Friday, 13 July 2007 18:06 (eighteen years ago)
You should put r@re tracks up without any identifying info on them.
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 13 July 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)
I'm going to do that with some DJ mixes I think. I know some haters think that the elitist move, but I've always relished the mystery, it's fun. Most of the stuff I want to put on DJ mixes aren't that obscure, but I want to inspire that feeling when someone's like "oh man, what is that!". I still get that all the time. I think it's something that should never die.

Dan Selzer,
Could you email r✧✧✧@gunc✧✧✧.d✧ and put something together when you come to SF? kthxbye

hey you weren't upset that i "disappeared" sat? wasn't my intention.
― sanskrit, Friday, 13 July 2007 18:31 (eighteen years ago)

yeah I'm not too into that
I never go to 12AM Maternal blog anymore now that it's just "Mystery Trak #12," "Mystery Track #13" etc.
― dmr, Friday, 13 July 2007 18:35 (eighteen years ago)
it's not that annoying on a mix tho
― dmr, Friday, 13 July 2007 18:36 (eighteen years ago)
steve, you lost me on the address...
sanskrit, it's like you said, we were all ready to get frozen hot chocolates and you were like "i'm gonna bum rush this" and give it a shot. We didn't think you'd get in but figured you had. I just regret not getting on a VIP list...and even turning down a txt-ed offer I got at like 5. I really, stupidly thought we'd all just get in!
― dan selzer, Friday, 13 July 2007 18:41 (eighteen years ago)
uh ryan @ gunclub.dj
― Steve Shasta, Friday, 13 July 2007 18:49 (eighteen years ago)
sorry i was trying to be elitist and you have to guess the rest of the address AH JUST KIDDING SORRY BAD JOKE HAHA ahem.
― Steve Shasta, Friday, 13 July 2007 18:50 (eighteen years ago)
i've been meaning to start an ILX thread on the idea of elitism, privacy, djs, blogs and "giving away stuff". i'm lazy though
― jaxon, Friday, 13 July 2007 19:30 (eighteen years ago)
jacque torres is amazing but those hot chocolates will destroy your colon. even half of one.

This annoying chick that was a friend of the folks I went with said I "HAD to try that iced hot chocolate OMG it's the best" etc.
Good thing I didn't have 77portapottieflushes.
― Steve Shasta, Friday, 13 July 2007 19:49 (eighteen years ago)
I couldn't even finish one. That's saying a lot.

elitism, privacy, djs, blogs and "giving away stuff"
― jaxon, Friday, 13 July 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)
what a can of worms you opened there. Didn't I say something about not wanting to talk about music on ILX? I'm just here to talk about places like Upi Jaya, the Indonesian resteraunt I visited tonight.
― dan selzer, Saturday, 14 July 2007 02:33 (eighteen years ago)
plus, we've got geir on ilm anyway. he covers all your bases:
My DJ set would have consisted of 80s synthpop/new romantics, 80s Europop and 80s Italo Disco. The only dance music worth listening to. :)

I almost responded to that, make some kind of narrative from James Brown to Italo Disco, but I figured it wasn't worth it.

please spread the word about thursday. I've never been to 205, I know it's a pretty trendy place these days and people go and dance on weeknights, but I don't get out so often and haven't been to the type of place where people actually dance on weeknights in ages, so it's hard for me to believe!
― dan selzer, Tuesday, 28 August 2007 16:30 (eighteen years ago)
I would dance on a weeknight...
