yes! SRV did that solo on (bowie's) china girl is really nice, though the intro is too much like the vapors to me. he also played guitar on james browns "living in america" although i can't place the guitar part from memory.
i hear plenty of soul clear as day in his playing. yet his talent (like shawn estes') was clearly affected by his alc.consumption but
