i got the MEGA SOY POY BOMBEX and it was pretty good but the cheese was all lumpy and shit ... burritoville needs to replace those puerto ricans with some REALZ mexicans so i can get my burrito on. the green salsa + chips = TEH BOMBEX tho.

listen to "broccoli" by the association, bump a table with your ibook on it and make the lid pop open so you have to open the damned thing, let it spin up... and the close the lid again, draw animated gifs of leotarded men on unicycles doing extreme sports for green drinks and sparks on hotdog fountains of joy while spinning a dj set of "broccoli" by the association, bump a table of self-help books on it and mark up the covers so you have to buy the damned things, throw them at random street urchines, and then once they're in the trash, close the lid, draw animated movies of leopards dancing the pogo to mike watt and a troop of dancing green yogi beras spinning like dervishes to the tune of "broccoli" by the association, bum a table off roz from that tv show about book worms and order some damned over medium eggs that you know will be over-cooked, so you can return them, close the lard in their kitchen for the no-armed illustrator they've hired to guard dicing ninjas on the lam from mike watt's pedro-raiders and after that, duck out on your boy scout troop, cover the bad news bears theme song with spinderella as guest dj and devote yourself to figuring out the lyrics to "brocolli" by the association so you can post them here for me.

Jams Murphy (ystrickler), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 14:12 (twenty years ago)

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 14:43 (twenty years ago)

i walked by gelato lab yesterday (closed natch!) with britishes girl who used to live down the block!

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

i lived a block away and still only got gelato like three times (and not from a lack of trying).

Jams Murphy (ystrickler), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:40 (twenty years ago)

dude yanc3 i sometimes wonder if britishes girl moved into your place after you moved out! you lived suspiciously near each other!

also i need to email you, bro.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:42 (twenty years ago)

emale away! i actually know the dude who lived into my old place, which is hella weird. the younger brother of a grrrl i used to smooch, completely by coincidence. so odd.

Jams Murphy (ystrickler), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:51 (twenty years ago)

Jamz, Pedro's next home start is likely Aug 19 or 20 vs Nats if that works for you.

Also, friends are trying to dragoon me to M Azerr*d's band (w/ Magnolia Ohia) next Thurs @Southpaw.

Why no you guys drink in Park Slope?

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 18:30 (twenty years ago)

Maz's band is great live! Go see 'em! He's a helluva drummer.

Alas I think I will be in AC that weekend for the Mets. I'll letya know tho.

Jams Murphy (ystrickler), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 18:30 (twenty years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 19:44 (twenty years ago)

Hi Elvis!

We have another visitor this weekend...

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Friday, 14 September 2018 14:21 (seven years ago)

I'm in for a FAP wherever it is...

cheese is the teacher, ham is the preacher (Jon not Jon), Friday, 14 September 2018 19:15 (seven years ago)

six years pass...

Thread bump! I’m here for at least two, prob three weeks.

Things I’m definitely doing:
1. Jack Davis exhibit at Soc of Illustrators (ends Saturday!)
2. The Robert Caro / Power Broker thing at the NY historical society
3. Going to that underground dumpling place in the dead mall on E Broadway followed by how to get out of Aeon Books for under $50
4. your ideas here!

Elvis Telecom, Friday, 20 September 2024 09:22 (one year ago)

oh woah didn't know about the Jack Davis exhibit - thanks for the tip!

i hit up the Caro show last week. it's pretty cool for the sake of seeing some original typewritten notes and unused pages and such. just know that it's not a very BIG show, so unless you're a major Caro fan, or also interested in the "Lost New York" show (which is nice!), then it might not seem like a lot for $24.

if you're over that way, and like contemporary architecture for its own sake, the new wing/west entrance of the AMNH is worth seeing IMHO. but depending how much time you've spent in NYC, then the sensible thing in that area would be to just roam around the woodsy wild hilly parts of Central Park.

the last visible dot (Doctor Casino), Friday, 20 September 2024 11:24 (one year ago)

Wait what dead mall on East Bway?? I want DUMPLINGS!.

Ima Gardener (in orbit), Friday, 20 September 2024 14:48 (one year ago)

Oh wow the one under the bridge? I've driven by there but never gone in. Would totally meet for this if time permitted but don't base anything on me -- but I'm open to trying!

Ima Gardener (in orbit), Friday, 20 September 2024 14:50 (one year ago)

Yah, it's the one under the bridge. This one:

also, legitimately my favorite bookstore in NYC: https://aeonbookstore.com

I'd forgotten about the new wing to the AMHN - thanks for reminding me. Ms. T is a NYC citizen so I'm here relatively often, but last time it was still pretty cold and didn't get any walking in.

Completely forgot to mention, the Gee Voucher exhibit at White Columns is on the "definitely doing" list too

Elvis Telecom, Friday, 20 September 2024 18:13 (one year ago)

Robert Frank at MOMA maybe

calstars, Friday, 20 September 2024 18:20 (one year ago)

Anyway, would love to have a Dead Mall Dumpling FAP (maybe next week?) if other folks are into it. Perhaps I can bump another thread...

Elvis Telecom, Friday, 20 September 2024 18:35 (one year ago)

That mall looked sketchy af the last time I walked by. I’m sure there are groups of Tik tokers there now because of those stupid articles Elvis mentioned above.

calstars, Friday, 20 September 2024 23:47 (one year ago)

Dumpling FAP is a lovely idea, don't plan around me either but I'm interested!

Another tip near Aeon: the Metrograph theater shows good stuff and Auditorium 1, at least, has a grand screen, very enjoyable moviegoing experience. Kiki's is great for Greek food (apps, entrees, whole works) in a wonderfully rambling, cobbled-together interior.

I was wandering around E Broadway today and I think the rats have scared off the prissy TikTok'ers (originally wrote TikTokers but that's another thread). Just noticed the Eno doc is still playing at Filmforum.

Elvis Telecom, Saturday, 21 September 2024 02:26 (one year ago)

Well that’s good news

calstars, Saturday, 21 September 2024 02:42 (one year ago)

Regarding the rats

calstars, Saturday, 21 September 2024 02:43 (one year ago)

I don't really like to humblebrag but I've been in the o.g. Chungking Mansions in Hong Kong and 88 E Broadway is about 40% of that.

Elvis Telecom, Saturday, 21 September 2024 03:15 (one year ago)

Oh shit

calstars, Saturday, 21 September 2024 03:29 (one year ago)

An OG up in this

calstars, Saturday, 21 September 2024 03:33 (one year ago)

Goddamn it, get in here and get some DUMPLINGS!!

Elvis Telecom, Saturday, 21 September 2024 04:41 (one year ago)

I mean -- if that's what it takes?

Elvis Telecom, Saturday, 21 September 2024 04:55 (one year ago)
