Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 24 September 2011 21:13 (fourteen years ago)

I watched that video a couple times and it brings back memories of my occasional nightmare that starts start with the realization that while on an ordinary walk to the store or whatever, I have inadvertently climbed something tall like that bridge, and I'm too petrified to continue on, or go back (which is what would happen in reality, I'm pretty sure). A few times I dreamed that I absentmindedly reached the top of this building before noticing that I should have gone around, instead.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7c/680NLakeShore.jpg/488px-680NLakeShore.jpg

I've never been in that building, or even spent much time in that hood, so I don't know why it keeps showing up in my dreams.

Je55e, Sunday, 25 September 2011 04:28 (fourteen years ago)

Kinda off topic, but once I was visiting Minneapolis with a friend of mine, and we were running around the skyways. We stopped on one because it had this neat view and he just kinda went huh. I said what.

Across from us was this huge Masonic temple and he told me how he had dreamed of it a few weeks ago, and now there it was, in real life - a building he claimed that he had never seen before, except in that dream.

And then we went back down to the car through Dayton's.

Pleasant Plains, Sunday, 25 September 2011 05:02 (fourteen years ago)

It does kinda stick out.

(And if you do a 180º on that street view, you'll see the skyway my friend and I were standing in.)

Pleasant Plains, Sunday, 25 September 2011 05:05 (fourteen years ago)

I love that building! Seems very ghostbusters to me

Pica is so weird. Sometimes pregnant ladies will get it and crave things like soil or eggshells. I think there was some line of thought that in some cases the cravings stem from a need for certain nutrients. Obviously that's not always the case cause what are you gonna get from a light bulb but, yes, it's very strange weird.

elmo argonaut, Thursday, 29 September 2011 13:11 (fourteen years ago)

Parasitic twins are cooler.

Young Swell (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 2 October 2011 12:48 (fourteen years ago)

To be clear, the whales are not endangered and animal rights organizations have largely backed off due to the fact that this process is such an integral part of Faroese culture, and because the Faroese aren’t involved in commercial whaling.

vs.

Ironically, this practice, called grindadráp, is diminishing the population of 5,000 islanders. Many of them get sick and die from high mercury levels in the whales. Mentally retarded children are reportedly being born at alarmingly high rates.

 (gr8080), Sunday, 2 October 2011 13:42 (fourteen years ago)

In other words, the animal rights people probably realize the Faroese people are more endangered than the whales.
