In the pub this afternoon there was a lovely bit about a cheetah cub and a couple of dogs. The baby cheetah was practising pouncing and hunting, and the dogs were so patient. Then the barmaid turned it over because she "doesn't like animals", which blew my mind.

Wow, Jenny, that's good. I read some metaphor about feeling like the word "orange," a word that doesn't rhyme with any other, but the whale metaphor is far better, especially b/c it allows for a better resolution.
That whale story is depressing the fuck out of me. The weird seal at least can hang out with humans, but the whale is just going to be alone :(
