^ this is a good techno mix. i would even go so far as to call it 'inspirational'.

sanskrit, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

^^ that's Glenn Gould but you knew that already

sanskrit, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

Anyone have the Col Legno label's recording of Ives' Universe Symphony ("completed" by Larry Austin)? It's disappeared off eMusic.

Jon Lewis, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 17:28 (eighteen years ago)

(mike, do you have the other two...my cdrs have gone to seed. would love to hear these again...goddamned brilliant)

do we get to hear hisham correct the pronounciation of his name on that mp3, jon? as for brian's sets...hmmm, you might be able to contact him and see if he has a dj set recorded...or if he could give you a playlist. he dj's around enough that he might be able to do that. i recall he played two songs from the selda record...which everyone should get. immediately. someone like milton might be pick out a few other things

bb, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 17:40 (eighteen years ago)

thanks for 7v07 JW

I don't have the Col Legno Ives Universe, but you just reminded me to order it on amazon. I have the Centaur Austin realization & the Johnny Reinhard realization -- both completely different. the opening of the Austin is incredibly cosmic but ends in a trainwreck, the Reinhard takes its time but the epic scale pays off at the end.

Milton Parker, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 18:32 (eighteen years ago)

The Centaur CD was recorded by a university orchestra, right? Anyway, my feelings about it resemble what you just said. I'm hoping the Col Legno will be fiercer-- these German radio orchestras can tackle anything.

Have not heard the Reinhard except for 30 sec samples on iTunes.

Jon Lewis, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 18:40 (eighteen years ago)

bb, no actually i was searching around for place to buy it and found that link

sanskrit, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 23:58 (eighteen years ago)

my neighbors locked up their connection before i was able to DL satwa OR boadrum :(

river wolf, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 00:05 (eighteen years ago)

anablog tends to post things in series, knowing them they're likely to post the other two in the Gould trilogy. 'quiet in the land' is the best.

this is the copy I have -- http://www.amazon.com/Glenn-Goulds-Solitude-Trilogy-Documentaries/dp/B000028803

Haltya - Electric Help Elves

for the planetary natural gas webbin fans out there.

, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

i was listening to 77 on an express subway this morning. the revving whooshy samples around the 30-40 min mark came up just as my train started picking up a lot of speed. kind of a scary synchronization.

sanskrit, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

xyzzzz__, Friday, 13 July 2007 19:19 (eighteen years ago)

could someone make a torrent or rapidshit the entierety of selections made at bumrocks? and lovefingers too, from 02.02.07 to 7.25.06. it would be so fun.

I probably will only keep a fraction of these but this knowledge will probably help to get my head ready for some other things that don't register with me nowadays etc

Sébastien, Friday, 13 July 2007 22:23 (eighteen years ago)

I'm sure I'll finally be able to wear some of the "funniest" sunglasses i have, after listening to that lot of music. in "exchange" I'll post a mix of cosmic french new wave things that I think haven't circulated much, if only I could find that jim corcoran track damn

Sébastien, Saturday, 14 July 2007 00:21 (eighteen years ago)

Lovefingers made all his old 2006 posts available for download the first week of 2007, so you could always wait and see if he does the same thing...in five months. Er, never mind.
