is this ike yard record so good because the very humanity of the musicians is inherent to the sounds the crank technology to sculpt or is it just the fact that the records they made are the construction from human dreams tempered by an inescapable, empirical reality?
also, should i quit talking/thinking about it with the above horsepoop and get down to brass tacks?

First they look like Joy Division, then they look like SPK, going by the photos.
Thanks to all who came by Dazzle Ships last night. It was especially good when Beppe Loda told Jeremy to stop recording, then turned everything up to 11 and played Vangelis so loud the cops came.

Steve Shasta here. Do you happen to have the link to that prank call file directory that had that guy DSP-ing his voice to the record store girl and the electronics store customer service guy?
It goes like "triple double slip with a triple dribble check",

I need a web designer. I advertised on nyhappenings, myspace and friendster...and got 2 responses...so far.
It's a whole branding/interface/website kind of thing. No programming necessary, as I have a pro-grammer. This could be lucrative and could be cool. Wondering if any of you have friends who are designers. Please send me any suggestions, links etc, and spread the word.
Thanks!

eman-don't want to divulge too much, but I just need some good branding and interface type work for the potential nyhappenings website. No programming skills necessary, but that never hurts. I'm even willing to work with print designers, I'm more into finding someone who can come up with a good aesthethic for it, but sometimes print designers aren't aware of what may not work w/ web, no?
lauren-I didn't know ili is a designer. Where does she work. Did she do pop manifesto?
john-I don't know if I'd recommend it! Take major notice of whether the stuff you want to reissue came out on major labels are not. If they did, forget it, give up now. If you want to talk more, email me off-list.

I don't know how much work it'd be, maybe just some work at the beginning then never again? Probably nights...email me off list and send me some websites/samples/portfolio etc.

what are the good used record spots in this fine borough?

there is a giant thrift store near the Astoria Blvd N stop (under the highway overpass) but it kinda sucks ass. over priced and every interesting looking record turns out to be an empty sleeve.
I haven't really looked that much either though. Whenever I'm in a dollar bin mood I just hit up Ditmars Thrift.

i'm sure you've been asked this before, but will you change your middle name to "Alka"? i will foot all the legal bills for name-changing, and will pay you an additional $25 US in Hardee's gift certificates.

I've posted this about 8 times in the last half hour:
Hey-
For about 6 years the Acute Records website was just a single white page with a bit of text and the phrase "new site soon" up top. Finally, about a year ago, it had a "design", some sort of Acute house style, but was still just a tease. Then, after much work and with a great deal of help from Rob from Catsup Plate, we got a real website up there. But I didn't officially "announce" it because I was waiting to start the Acute blog. So after a few more months, and with a great deal of help from Max of artificeeternity.com, we finally set up the blog. And I still didn't say anything. I had posted an initial intro post, but wanted to wait until there was a more substantial post. Well now there is, so I'm here to tell you about it.
Consider the Acute Records website officially "launched"! You can see it here: http://acuterecords.com
And feel free to check out the Acute Records Blog here: http://acuterecords.com/blog/
Why a blog? Why not. You can read all about it in the first post, but basically the blog will be an outlet for the discussion of music, the stuff we're releasing, the stuff we want to release, the stuff we wished we released. Old music, new music, tours, radio, interviews etc. Like the original Acute geocities website, it'll mostly just be the rants of a fan, nothing too authoritative or academic. Hopefully it will be fun, maybe a bit informative and maybe a bit funny at times.
My goal is to have at least one post a week because I want to make sure you come back and keep checking it...I want to be in your RSS reader, I want to be in your blogroll. Most importantly, I want you to comment and take part. The first real post is up, an extensive and excessive summation of my appearance on the Beats in Space radio show. Don't worry, I'll probably never post anything that long again.
So please come check it out and let me know what you think. We're still working the kinks out but I'm pretty psyched about it. And look for the Fire Engines CD Hungry Beat on October 2nd and for news beyond that...well you'll have to join the mailing list and keep checking the blog!
Thanks,
Dan
