One of my buddies from NYC is in town this weekend so probably in October-ish. I think.
DDB,
I love you the way you are, don't ever change.

I thought long and hard about this one... the corndog, the shiskabob, the satay... but i'm going to have to stick with "takoyaki", fried and breaded balls of octopus. When I was in Japan last year visiting my best friend, he hunted down the exact takoyaki-ya in Osaka that he had visited some 15 years earlier in his school trip to the ancient capital. needless to say, he navigated those twisted streets from off the train station, peaking around corners, sniffing into the air, and scratching his head before eventually pushing aside the drapery of the exact one from his jr. high school days. and it was delicious!
allison,
i think that the best wine cooler can be made by you, right in your home! take one two shots of dessert wine (try the bonnie doon vin de glacier) and then add a splash of chambord and fill the remainder of your RED wine glass with icecold sprite or seven up. swizzle and consume.
OR if you are feeling more adventurous: 3/4 sparks to 1/4 cactus cooler. this will knock your ass out (in time, mind you).

Our children are beginning to notice that Daddy and Mommy don't sleep together, and I think that's a bad example to set. Worse, our physical relationship has been deteriorating over the years, and I'm sure this is one reason why.
I feel disconnected in our marriage and often think about living alone or finding someone else. Can you give me any advice and hope? --Tracy in Arkansas

― HungryBrokeMan (Vic), Thursday, 12 August 2004 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)
I recommend the burritos because the ingredients are probably more time-senstive than Le Chef. (don't get me wrong, Le Chef has a time and a place, just not tonight).

I am writing for help in understanding what is happening in my life. It started three years ago, when my sister died of breast cancer at the age of 39. I was crushed when this happened. Then my best friend died at the age of 32.
Why do these things keep happening to me? I worry that I'll be next. Can you help me? -- Herbert in West Virginia

How hung do you think Tobey McGuire is?? I've always wanted to know but never knew who I could ask - until I found your thread! I'm so sure you must know. You're awesome! I really wanna find out 'cause I'm his BIGGEST FAN - IF YOU CAN TELL HIM THAT IT WOULD MAKE MY DAY WOW!! Also, my friends and I have been wondering: do you think he ever sits around naked with David Blaine and Leonardo DiCaprio in a half-dazed manner and plays footsie with their naked toes? Would you suck him or would you suck me ? I hope you can answer my questions. They are really important to me. Thanks!!

You must be referring to my laundry. Well I've got one more load in the dryer. It just takes a few hours, some quarters, some detergent, and the energy to hike the four flights of stairs down to the basement and back several times.
Really: Thanks for asking,

Dude, you MUST tell me your other gigs (lineups/venues/etc.)!!!
Ally,
You may be on to something, that could be Lorne Greene or Leslie Nielsen.
Ian,
Probably not because you are home and it's not even 1 in the morning. Ian lasts all night, at least according to what I saw written in the girls' restrooms around NYU.

I started lurking here early on (y2k) when it was all Dexys/B&S threads and had nothing to contribute other than shilling my terrible blog.

Steve, were you any music mailing lists and/or usenet in the 90s? Possibly the chugchanga list?
― Elvis Telecom, Monday, 20 November 2023 03:22 (two years ago)
My embarrassing music posts have appeared on Drone-On, Chug(changa)-l, Osaka-Bears, Pavement, Sp0ckM0rgue & KXLU mailing lists. Usenet was alt.music.alternative & alt.music.brianeno for the most part. BBS were various disc.servs, thevelvetrope (lol) and eventually this ilx-verse. Probably forgetting a lot, but it's best for my mental health.
― citation needed (Steve Shasta), Monday, 20 November 2023 04:31 (two years ago)
There was also a NZ/Flying Nun mailing list that was incredibly informative as well but I cannot for the life of me recall the name...

Acha. Then it's definitely DroneOn I know you from before ILX

FMBB? I remember lurking there from the real MBB and was scared of that place, lol. Absolutely too cool, informed, and arch for me.
― il lavoro mi rovina la giornata (PBKR), Monday, 20 November 2023 12:27 (two years ago)
FMBB was mostly nerdy shut-ins with terrible taste in music, eg that's where M@tth3w P3rp3tu@ made his mark selling $30 bootleg CDRs to naive kids before inventing "the first mp3 blog". MBB was great, Gerard was an absolute saint for interacting with so many dorks on the reg.
