well there have always been a dozen short-lived footnotes for every career artist -- how does that make the 70s different from now (sorry i don't know what the original thread this statement was made on, i'm probably missing some key context)

i think it was something about how people in the past would hone their abilities and pay their dues and learn many different styles over a period of years and post-punk this changed and post-internet it changed even more. something like that.
