kind of a non-question xp - it's "better" to acknowledge how privilege informs your positions and avoid engaging in dialogues/narrative stances that use one's own privilege to marginalize/disenfranchise others, i.e., straight males telling lesbians that they've got some hard dick for them. For Edward, Tyler evidently has some offsetting disenfranchisement that makes this sort of homophobic assholism harmless, acceptable trolling. for me, less so.

Music is a soundtrack to a time and place - reflecting and influencing in equal measure - from Morissey's humdrum towns to George Harrison and Ray Davies' Taxmen to Bob Marley's Exodus to Shut Up And Dance's Ravin I'm Ravin - all these represent social and political change in some way, and all are iconic of their place and time.

I was reading through this thread and I saw my mean zing to abbott (sorry).
Then I thought about something that happened a couple weeks ago when I was at a place with a bunch of college age people dancing. I was telling my friend earlier that night about how I like to look for money on the floor of clubs (not strip clubs) because there's always some cash lying around. Then like five minutes later I picked up a dollar by some dancing people and a girl turned to me and said "that's my dollar". I figured she was acting smart with me, in front of the dude she was with, showing that she can get me to give her the dollar. So I said to her "it's a dollar. you can have it" and gave her the buck. And she started saying something like "my friend lent me that dollar for...." and I said "uh-huh" and walked away in the middle of her sentence.
