That is a fly piece that is "gaping". If it really bothers you, take it to a tailor and have them move the top button out a bit to even the tension on the fly piece. For the cost of a needle and thread, you can sew a "tack" (small pleat) on the underside of the fly piece as well but it might take a couple tries to get it right.

I asked the LA thread as well, but you generally know the answer to questions like this. Where should I go for good sushi in LA? I'm doing a training thing out by the airport and want a good place to drive out for food.

Okay, so there is this Japanese restaurant that I used to frequent often in the late 00s and Jobs would often be there (but not Woz lol).
Rumor had it he was quite tight with the owners, possibly helping bankroll the place when it opened.
They announced they were closing about 2 weeks ago.

Follow-up, the head chef has been hired by Apple and will be working at the Cupertino HQ. Crazy, as this place was pretty high-end, a incredibly different universe from the corporate lunch scene.

Last year I bought a pair of raw LVC 66501 from Tokyo. When I got home, I hot soaked it for a few hours and then air dried it. I tried them on and they were still a bit loose, so I flipped it inside out and threw it in the washer and put it under hot water wash cycle.
I'm not sure if it's LVC, or the hot wash or something else, but when I finally started wearing it, I noticed that it wasn't "raw" anymore.
Does anyone else ever ran into something like this or could explain why my LVC's are $#*#ed up now?!?

dear steve shasta,
i will be in tokyo for a few days in december. i know will be the NPB off-season, but any tips on things to check out? i plan on visiting the yakult swallows team store, maybe the giants too.
― 龜, Wednesday, 25 October 2023 12:45 (two years ago)
Swallows team store will probably be more central to your lodging/itinerary (unless you're going for academic work?). That said, Giants gear will be ubiquitous in any shopping district whereas Swallows gear is a bit more niche (cf Yankees/Mets).
I have this hat which rules imho:

Isn't markers treeship, or am I not remembering that right?
― il lavoro mi rovina la giornata (PBKR), Wednesday, 25 October 2023 14:23 (two years ago)
markers real name was Mike and he lived in MA. He def isn't treeship.
― Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Wednesday, 25 October 2023 14:24 (two years ago)
Nor was he MP though MP was before my time I think.
I also at one point thought markers and treeship were the same person. I have no recollection of why that was now though
― Colonel Poo, Wednesday, 25 October 2023 14:32 (two years ago)
we are both around the same age. at some point, we were both "young" people, especially around here. now not so much.
― treeship., Monday, 13 November 2023 00:53 (two years ago)
Although I am blessed with a youthful appearance/temperament, I think... I'm quite a bit older than ya mate lol.
I'm no jaymc.xlsx but I'd like to say you started posting here in college whereas when I was in my college days it was all usenet, mailer-daemons and gopher/FTP protocols.

― flopson, Monday, 13 November 2023 08:12 (two years ago)
I mean, even in grad school I may have used Mosaic or Cello but Netscape Navigator was still in devs lol.
I started lurking here early on (y2k) when it was all Dexys/B&S threads and had nothing to contribute other than shilling my terrible blog.
I'm old!

i thought i was the same age as you, flopson. i was born in 89.
― treeship., Sunday, 19 November 2023 22:23 (two years ago)
i did go to grad school but my degree is in ed. i would have had more fun doing creative writing.
Steve, were you any music mailing lists and/or usenet in the 90s? Possibly the chugchanga list?
― Elvis Telecom, Monday, 20 November 2023 03:22 (two years ago)
My embarrassing music posts have appeared on Drone-On, Chug(changa)-l, Osaka-Bears, Pavement, Sp0ckM0rgue & KXLU mailing lists. Usenet was alt.music.alternative & alt.music.brianeno for the most part. BBS were various disc.servs, thevelvetrope (lol) and eventually this ilx-verse. Probably forgetting a lot, but it's best for my mental health.
― citation needed (Steve Shasta), Monday, 20 November 2023 04:31 (two years ago)
There was also a NZ/Flying Nun mailing list that was incredibly informative as well but I cannot for the life of me recall the name...
― citation needed (Steve Shasta), Monday, 20 November 2023 04:44 (two years ago)
Acha. Then it's definitely DroneOn I know you from before ILX
― Elvis Telecom, Monday, 20 November 2023 05:21 (two years ago)
FMBB? I remember lurking there from the real MBB and was scared of that place, lol. Absolutely too cool, informed, and arch for me.
― il lavoro mi rovina la giornata (PBKR), Monday, 20 November 2023 12:27 (two years ago)
FMBB was mostly nerdy shut-ins with terrible taste in music, eg that's where M@tth3w P3rp3tu@ made his mark selling $30 bootleg CDRs to naive kids before inventing "the first mp3 blog". MBB was great, Gerard was an absolute saint for interacting with so many dorks on the reg.
