It would be cool if she died already so I wouldn't have to hear about her anymore. Oh wait, that would make her even more popular.

That's A LOT, Michael. And clearly you don't live in my London; it is just possible to work in the media and have real friends. It is also possible to surround yourself with a bunch of swivelheads and complain that everyone's an asshole. Well, d'oh... JT Leroy is no joke perpetrated by anyone, he's BRILLIANT. And does make the occasional appearance. The only thing about the whole phenomenon that sucks is Ms C Love is angling to play the mum in the film of Sarah.

i like the inevitable meta-suzy namedropping callout defense:
Rumbling your shite Lowest Common Denominator workplace is not namedropping, it's KNOWLEDGE. Which I wanted to share with everyone who may not have realised. And you need the attentions of a good sub-editor more than I would have done at the age of 12, so it's hardly surprising you've found a home with Little Red Wapping Wench.
i don't even know what most of this paragraph means.

ilX in hatin' meta-referencin' shockah!
I'm sure others have noticed how on Family Guy they purposefully test the viewers' patience with long, deliberately over-long scenes. This probably turns off a lot of people, but halfway through such scenes I realise, "Oh wait, Macfarlane's pulling a Michaelangelo Antonioni again!" and that makes me appreciate the show more.

I actually met Drew once at Reading festival; Eric from Hole was her b/ f at time but I just remember being very drunk etc. and introduced to this girl and sort of said hi. Weeks later my friend said that girl was Drew. Hmmm. Rule 259: It's Always Courtney's Fault.

Hi, I'm Nikki and I'm looking for one of the new Hipublicans I've been hearing so much about. Do you read Vice magazine? Are you a Do or a Don't? Do you inject crystal meth into your neck and call your best 2nd gen immigrant friend 'Paki'? Are you a skateboard libertarian who believes the only good government is a dead government? Do you pack fudge with the logcabin lumberhacks? Does your hair swing ever-more-asymmetrically to the right? Do you make fun of Jews and Eurotrash while being secretly Jewish-Canadian Eurotrash? Is there a Shepherd Fairey poster of Pat Buchanan hanging in the kitchen of your Williamsburg loft? Do you believe that an ambiguous and unreliable narrative voice means never having to say you're sorry? Do you like Black Dice and Devendra Banhart? Do you think that all debauchery should have corporate sponsorship? Ever done DIY surgery at a party, just to change sex or something? Do you know Dick the dealer? Did you read Machiavelli because Tupac told you to? Do you jerk off to Terry Richardson and Ryan McGinley's pixx of themselves cumming in some vaguely familiar-looking NY scenester's ear? Then you're the Hipublican for me! Send really ugly naked photos so we can publish them in the mag with scathing comments. Box 91105.

Oh just off the top of my head marriage has GENERALLY SPEAKING raised the quality of life more for men than for women for hundeds of years, ie men gained more benefits and lost fewer freedoms than women did in the marriage contract. Sure, women might gain a wage-earner, some physical safety through having a man to watch over them, and a method of keeping their land in the family when they couldn't own property on their own, but that's hardly a ringing endorsement, and they paid with their lives in childbirth blah blah.
Plus the penalties for adultery, childbirth out of wedlock, and infanticide through exposure, abortion, "accidental" smothering in their sleep, and so on, have been MASSIVELY higher for women since, like, the early middle ages. For instance women in late medieval France could be, and were, executed for murder for not keeping their babies alive even when the whole household was starving b/c of deathly poverty, but men were never implicated even if the father was known.
