Asa Zernik: I see that people are wondering why e.g. Brazil, Russia, and China are dark - Brazilians use Google's Orkut, Russians use VKontakte, Chines use QQ, Saudis use Maktoob, etc. In the latter two cases government blocking probably has a lot to do with it, but in Russia and Brazil's case other networks just plain managed to catch on first - people go where their friends are.

yeah i was surprised by that too but it was like 23 mins into an epic fight, so i'm sure dudes were a little tired then. also he probably wasn't expecting pettis to pull that move since uhh no one does that ever. need to rewatch that one.

he's said that he does practice it although i'm sure not very much. the fight was very close and it's hard to win a decision against a champ so he had to pull something special out and he managed to do it and win the decision.

you should watch mma. everyone i know has hated it until i've turned them onto it. this kick is from the very last fight of the last WEC event (kind of a perfect way to go out) but they still show WEC on versus every now and then. i would recommend checking that out because it is free and features smaller dudes who have the cardio to go crazy. WEC has since been folded into UFC so you can still see these dudes there. UFC is great but is a bit plagued by wrestlers imo and they're not the most exciting to watch.

ok so i just watched a torrent of the whole thing. the earlier fights didn't totally hold my interest but holy shit the henderson/pettis match was nonstop radness. if pettis hadn't pulled that matrix move i'd have called the thing for henderson, but not by much

i think the reason i've avoided mma stuff is because of the total douchebags it attracts. all tribal tats and stupid hair, blastin linkin park from a riced out honda civic, dreaming of owning a couple jetskis
