when i went to thailand last new years. the girl that worked at our hotel bought one of my friends this cd as a departing gift. it's pretty amazing. one 50min song. very loopy, trippy, upbeat. electric guitar 3 string lute called a phin. sorta surfy. i think the genre of music is called Morlum

"Morlum" is one of the many spellings of "molam," well-documented by Sublime Frequencies et al. Awhile back, I talked to Alan Bishop about the search for it. Can't wait to check that piece though.

here's the endless talking, from the haruomi hosono monad boxset. unhinged sampler & sequencer experiments, kinda in a similar vein to esperanto but more abstract. both were released in the same year. originally used as the soundtrack for an installation by an italian artist called daniela bezzi, that's all i got though cos most of the text is in japanese. if you like digital synth sounds and weird grainy samples this album is for you. can up the rest of the monad box if anyone is interested

are those full tatsuro yamashita albums? i've heard a few songs from spacy (solid slider and one other). is that the best one?
― jaxon, Tuesday, 7 December 2010 05:34 (fifteen years ago)
Yup! The first 2 are actually just as much Eiichi Ohtaki LPs (happy end). Spacy is good throughout, Solid Slider is the track that's known for a reason tho. The Sugar Babe one is actually maybe the best of these. Somebody dumped a huge list and I'm not sure how far down the rabbit hole I wanna go. Dunno, the one 80s one I have on vinyl has a few jams
