dag Milton, I'm sorry!! I thought this was ... if not well known, then a poorly kept secret...

I didn't even notice the fact that admin powerz have disappeared here...

Good luck on the show, Zeena is awesome. OWT! wow, that album was a racket...

Stormy Davis, Friday, 23 February 2007 19:46 (nineteen years ago)

someone e-mail me some links to milton stuff i can buy. i wanna check it out now:

[email protected]

scott seward, Friday, 23 February 2007 19:55 (nineteen years ago)

it's super known & the littlest deal in the world, I'm just allergic to posts. if someone says 'you look well', I usually hear it as 'you look like a potato bug pinned to a cork board' and respond 'hey fuck you' and the other person's all '?'. I'll e-mail you scott.

Milton Parker, Friday, 23 February 2007 20:01 (nineteen years ago)

& I've never heard that OWT record but David Linton lives three blocks from my apartment -- he has some pretty crazy solo LPs on Dossier from the 80's that are worth hearing

Milton Parker, Friday, 23 February 2007 20:03 (nineteen years ago)

i think my brother played a show with zeena. maybe? it's all a blur. my brother is a well-known secret.

there are some really cool old David Linton recordings being reissued, but not by my label, unfortunately.

dan selzer, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:14 (nineteen years ago)

Dan, I only recently figured out your label reissued all that Branca stuff. Good on you!

If you're looking for more stuff to reissue, howzabout the first 5 Live Skull records?

Edward III, Saturday, 24 February 2007 04:36 (nineteen years ago)

I never really got into them that much, I was always a much bigger fan of the Thalia Zedek years. I should give them another shot though.

dan selzer, Saturday, 24 February 2007 08:15 (nineteen years ago)

i met david recently at the project room. interesting and decent guy.

heres two things from kazuki tomokawa.

this is the recent psf live recording from 2005. dramatic and occasionally savage, but well polished with a thrilling backing group. a fine example of the man at the top of his powers and incorporating a variety of his stylistic changes.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/uk4my9

this is a collection of early material taken from his 1st three albums from 75-77. many will refer to this period as the heyday of japanese dylan-influenced revolutionary folk. this was a period of certain student radicalism in japan, but i cant really say too much about it, finding much info is impossible unless you happen to have a source that can either speak directly or translate. if anyone happens to know anything about the time or have a good lead on who to talk to, drop me a line here or off board. i got this cdr from alan cummings who was beyond decent in trying to help and sending along a few cdr's of material i was then having trouble finding (more and more tomokawa, mikami, and psf stuff has been popping up online, but not in shops...forced exposure is still the ebst source). i can't thank him enough!!!

http://www.sendspace.com/file/xd99p1

if people are itno this stuff i have a bunch of it. some stuff has been shared on time h4s t0ld me and on c1t1es 0n fl4m3 w1th r0ck n r0ll...i can throw some of the recent mikami live stuff up too, since it was all limited edition..say the word

bb, Saturday, 24 February 2007 16:34 (nineteen years ago)

to anyone who grabbed the Dr. Philter Banx song off bumr0cks --

that shit that kicks in at around 2:15 has def. been either sampled or used in a mix I've heard ... it's totally familiar & driving me nuts .... anybody know?

dmr, Saturday, 24 February 2007 19:57 (nineteen years ago)

can you upload it? the old files are still linked, but aren't downloading

jaxon, Saturday, 24 February 2007 21:09 (nineteen years ago)

here ya go
http://www.sendspace.com/file/uk84gh

it's long, I think it's one whole side of the record

also if anyone got the other side (love pulse) off DC i'd like to have it .... it was posted a while ago but the file's expired.

it's a weird canadian moog record I heard about years ago but it always gets mad $$$ on ebay ... I totally forgot about it until that track went up. can't even find an image of the cover anymore but it looks like a giant moog dildo??? it's called "insertion in middle c: mood moog music for lovers" or some shit. obv some kind of put-on ("filter banks" lol) but I don't know who did the music.

it sounds like i'm totally making this up

dmr, Saturday, 24 February 2007 22:19 (nineteen years ago)

now i totally hate you because i can't figure it out either. it's super familiar

jaxon, Sunday, 25 February 2007 07:19 (nineteen years ago)

it sounds like quiet village or emperor machine or something

jaxon, Sunday, 25 February 2007 07:20 (nineteen years ago)

my latest guess was that it was on that commonwealth stacks mini-mix that vahid posted a few months ago but that wasn't it either :<

dmr, Sunday, 25 February 2007 16:44 (nineteen years ago)

david bedford - the sirens

I like 'stars end' and 'rime of the ancient mariner' better as albums than the one this is taken from, though this is probably my favorite thing by bedford. if only later philip glass bothered to work out choral parts like this. stoned oldfield on guitar.

V/A | Jonny Greenwood Is The Controller Trojan | vbr

Quote:
Whether you recognize him as Radiohead's lead guitarist, a recent winner at the BBC British Composer Awards or even as a member of the Weird Sisters featured in the Harry Potter films, none can dispute Jonny Greenwood's legendary musical credentials.

Here, he turns his hand to compiling an album of music that is extremely close to his heart, reggae music. Jonny trawled the archives of the legendary Trojan Records and spent 6 months perusing the vaults in order to come up with 17 stellar tracks for his mix CD. He has picked a faultless selection of tracks by the likes of Linval Thompson, John Holt, Lee Perry and The Heptones ranging from classic Ska and Rocksteady cuts to some vintage Dub and Roots. 'Jonny Greenwood Is The Controller’ is part of the Trojan 40th Anniversary celebrations. Look out for further releases from Super Furry Animals, Fatboy Slim, Justin Robertson and many more....

i recommend BOOEY!! they were awesome 80s punk pop band.

chaki, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 20:42 (nineteen years ago)

Metalchicks features members of Buffalo Daughter and OOIOO and make some seriously sick metal riffs, funky riffs, and everything in between blended with electronic drum beats and talkboxes.

RAD! THX

chaki, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 21:02 (nineteen years ago)

I barely even know! Those are all $30 imports. Most of it is just the mainstream stuff, which I like to check out just for context, things like Gackt / Bump of Chicken / Number Girl

Soil & 'Pimp' Sessions worth checking out, especially the first one 'Pimpin' -- hard bop jazz played like power pop -- I grabbed Blanket Jet City's 'Harlem Jets' because young Shiina dropped their names a lot. and the more proggy Zazen Boys tracks are insane

wierd good = After Dinner 'Editions', Geinoh Yamashirogumi 'Osorezan', the ex-Girl, Kazuki Tomokawa (in addition to bb's post upthread), & those Otomo Yoshihide New Jazz records are good, esp. 'Orchestra' & the 'Out To Lunch' tribute

Milton Parker, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 21:10 (nineteen years ago)

downloaded the ymck record, and it's good! nintendo-tone synth pop with girl singer
