"Stormy, I'm feeling you on those Boston Tea Party tracks"

this is the stuff that made me a true believer when it comes to mach 1 FM. I bought the old british budget vinyl comp of these shows years ago with very little expectations and i was so blown away. gave me chills! the later fuller cd comps only add to the greatness. plus, you can't beat the SOUND on those things. amazing, considering the vintage. those GUITARS!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

scott seward (scott seward), Saturday, 22 April 2006 21:40 (twenty years ago)

those are amazing clips

milton parker (Jon L), Saturday, 22 April 2006 22:18 (twenty years ago)

FYI TO STORMY:

PETER GREEN PLAYS GUITAR ON THE SONG "THERE'LL BE CHANGES" FOUND ON THE 2ND AND FINAL TOE FAT ALBUM, TOE FAT TWO. JUST SO YOU KNOW.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 23 April 2006 14:58 (twenty years ago)

Skotty, I did not know that! You know it's funny that you mention that, though, cuz just this Saturday I curled up with the Peter Green bio that I bought at the book fair almost a year ago but still hadn't read yet. All the recent noize board mac insanity finally drove me to pull it out. just barely started it so far but the one cool thing -- there is a complete sessionography in the back.

Apparently he actually did two more solo singles *after* End of the Game -- "Heavy Heart" b/w "No Way Out" (Reprise 14092); and "Beasts of Burden" b/w "Uganda Woman" (Reprise 14141). I never knew! totally dying to hear those now..

looking just now .. there is no mention of the Toe Fat in here! I totally believe though, makes sense to me. Not sure I even have that second one ... I think I only have the first (the only with w/ Hensley) but I will check

Stormy Davis (diamond), Tuesday, 25 April 2006 03:05 (twenty years ago)

I also never knew that he plays guitar on one cut on FM's Penguin lp! I've never heard that record.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Tuesday, 25 April 2006 03:06 (twenty years ago)

What are the good FM bios?

elmo argonaut (allocryptic), Monday, 12 June 2006 22:39 (nineteen years ago)

"Hypnotized" is definitely one of the best songs of ANY era of the band, for sure.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Monday, 12 June 2006 22:42 (nineteen years ago)

nobody talks about "silver springs"

SQUARECOATS (plsmith), Tuesday, 13 June 2006 02:42 (nineteen years ago)

i love silver springs. hearing that song was like coming home. i don't know what song i would have booted off rumours to fit in on the original lp, but something should have been.

electric sound of jim (and why not) (electricsound), Tuesday, 13 June 2006 02:55 (nineteen years ago)

I heard two songs from tusk randomly today-- 'think about me' in a goodwill store, and then a dj'er played 'not that funny' out at the club that I sometimes frequent before returning home and crying.

Dell (Dell), Tuesday, 13 June 2006 10:34 (nineteen years ago)

also, there was a stevie solo record at the goodwill, but it looked a wee bit crusty, so i bailed. call it cowardice!!! my turntable is sensitive and has been known to gently weep when subjected to grimy vinyl.

I'LL FOLLOW YOU DOWN TO THE SOUND OF MY VOICE THAT HAUNTS YOU
YOU'LL NEVER GET AWAY FROM THE SOUND OF THE WOMAN THAT LOVES YOU

(cue psycho knife-in-shower sound effect)

aimee semple mcmansion (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 28 June 2006 04:12 (nineteen years ago)

I am actually, completely coincidentally, listening to Mr. Wonderful right now.

I think I can pretty confidently say that it *was* a bit of a drop-off from the dog-and-dustbin lp. Vernon's production isn't quite as misty and gripping here .. it's a little more basic. Jeremy's songs weren't as fun ... Danny Kirwan couldn't have arrived soon enough.

three months pass...
Now here you go again
You say you want your freedom
Well who am I to keep you down
Its only right that you should
Play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat.. drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost...
And what you had...
And what you lost

Thunder only happens when its raining
Players only love you when theyre playing
Say... women... they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean... youll know

Now here I go again, I see the crystal visions
I keep my visions to myself
Its only me
Who wants to wrap around your dreams and...
Have you any dreams youd like to sell?
Dreams of loneliness...
Like a heartbeat... drives you mad...
In the stillness of remembering what you had...
And what you lost...
And what you had...
And what you lost

Thunder only happens when its raining
Players only love you when theyre playing
Say... women... they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean... youll know
