some rare lost jockey stuffs...

http://433rpm.blogspot.com/2007/08/lost-jockey-professor-slack-10.html
http://433rpm.blogspot.com/2008/08/lost-jockey-tape-no-label-1983.html

rediscovered these guys after i bought a (very awesome) lp by 'man jumping', did some research, and found out that it was the lost jockey guys playing world/fusion/electronic style-stuff after someone accused lost jockey of being too 'systems-based'. or something. i guess brian eno called them the most important band in the world at one point? anyway, if anyone's found any of the lps by man jumping online i would realllly appreciate that too

one elusive nugget: anyone got the bonus 7" that came w/ s£b@d0h's "bakesale" on vinyl? apparently also released as b-sides on cdsingle of "magnet's coil" in australia.

a friend of mine once described Man Jumping - inappropriately or not - as Steve Reich meets Level 42

jaxon, Saturday, 17 July 2010 17:01 (fifteen years ago)

I don't know what that emoticon mean. I think I have a fat lip.

dan selzer, Saturday, 17 July 2010 17:13 (fifteen years ago)

none of you guys seemed to even care when I posted it to this thread three years ago sob sob

that flock of seagulls 12" was one of the first 10 records I ever bought, man did it ever hold up, it is totally worthy of zero set

Milton Parker, Monday, 19 July 2010 00:58 (fifteen years ago)

I cared! I looked in my iTunes and saw that I already had the track and thought, "Pretty sure I got that off Milton Parker."

dmr, Monday, 19 July 2010 01:06 (fifteen years ago)

you guys are all pals & I'm just stupid from east coast heat & rio's transfer is probably better than mine

the other non-album track from that 12", 'last flight of yuri gagarin' is pretty krauty too even if it's not as batty as 'rosenmontag'

Milton Parker, Monday, 19 July 2010 01:59 (fifteen years ago)

dude, you're just ahead of your time

jaxon, Monday, 19 July 2010 03:01 (fifteen years ago)

i feel bad now! i was looking through the archives and of course found a very informative post from milton about the nightmares 12", making the rastakraut pasta/zero set connections long before i'd even heard of conny plank

不合作的方式 (r1o natsume), Monday, 19 July 2010 11:17 (fifteen years ago)

btw how is the listen lp? it was recorded in conny plank's studio right?

不合作的方式 (r1o natsume), Monday, 19 July 2010 11:39 (fifteen years ago)

there are some brilliant Whodini tracks recorded at Conny's as well and think the Vocoder book mentions some un-released Bambaataa-Plank material, too.

that said, anyone have Parlour No. 2? blinked and missed the ed. of 250.

beta blog, Monday, 19 July 2010 16:02 (fifteen years ago)

my fav 80s conny plank is the gabi delgado solo album, mistress. really out-there hybrid synth-funk w/ tropical touches, kinda sleazy and sweaty and coked out

i'll have a look for those whodini trax

不合作的方式 (r1o natsume), Monday, 19 July 2010 16:28 (fifteen years ago)

Parlour No. 2 seconded!

the face of madness

Milton Parker, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 07:50 (fifteen years ago)

dude, when i went on safari in s.africa, we were all like "oh fuck, elephant, lion, cheetah, etc". big shit. then every once in a while you had birdwatchers on tour w/you and they're like "oooh, look Tachybaptus ruficollis, Podilymbus podiceps, etc" and they're the biggest nerds in the world and you just want to punch them in their fucking binocular holding faces

jaxon, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 15:14 (fifteen years ago)

then the mp3's I posted will have you flying into an uncontrollable rage that grows deeper every time he pronounces a new mnemonic meant to help you remember the birds by their calls. guy sounds like those moments when jim henson's voice would begin teetering back into character as kermit, making it clear that it wasn't a character

I am impressed with what it must take to be Lang Elliott. His recordings of isolated individual animals are just about the best I've heard, the Jean C Roché albums are weirder, Douglas Quin's are more remote, but this Lang guy, it's like he wields a sonic microscope

this CD, it's like I'll never need to listen to Xenakis again: http://www.musicofnature.org/frogconcertos/
