Did you in fact lift my luggage (dyao), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 14:01 (sixteen years ago)

i mean how can you NOT live with a $300 pair of butter-soft oxfords

max, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 14:06 (sixteen years ago)

I feel like if I bought those shoes I would have to wear those sockettes/whatever they're called and either hem all my pants or cuff them to above my ankle or maybe just wear oxford shorts all day

Did you in fact lift my luggage (dyao), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 14:07 (sixteen years ago)

probably would just walk around wearing shoes and only shoes

max, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 14:10 (sixteen years ago)

moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 21 November 2010 01:52 (fifteen years ago)

so I stopped wearing my wallabees, I stopped wearing the stan smiths and my lacoste canvas chuck taylor style sneakers. The Wolverines never broke in and still hurt like hell. The clarks boots with treads posted above fell apart on the inside so I have to fix that. Have a really old pair of Kenneth Cole beatle boots that I wear wore tonight that only killed after a an hour of dancing but still I wouldn't wear them every day like I used to.

So what did I do? I went to Jackrabbit, like I said above, and said "I need the most comfortable shoe ever made for walking" and they said we all wear these....

http://www.shoes.com/productimages/shoes_iaec1185028.jpg

I tried them on, walked to the other end of store and halfway there started giggling. I'd never worn shoes that comfortable in my life. They're "trail" shoes, meant for running through the woods. Basically good running shoes with more flexibility to handle more irregular terrain then their normal running shoes. I had never heard of the company, but it seems at that store, and online, Brooks is up there with Asics and New Balance?

Anyway, they're the only shoes I've worn since I bought them except for when I needed to dress nicer. I still have foot pains but different and lesser foot pains. Will probably go back to a podiatrist eventually, but these were a huge improvement.

Knowing they wouldn't be too much fun in the dead of winter, I went to Red Wing...there's a store in my neighborhood in Queens, and tried on a few pairs and they were all terribly uncomfortable, and I'm just too gun-shy now to take a chance after spending hundreds on those Wolverines. All I can think to do is to take my clark boots and get the insides fixed.

dan selzer, Sunday, 21 November 2010 09:39 (fifteen years ago)

Oh yeah, they are called Brooks Cascadia 5

dan selzer, Sunday, 21 November 2010 09:40 (fifteen years ago)

Brooks makes the best running shoes imo, plus those are awesome looking!

moonship, I would sell both of those crazy woven nike pony hair things but I think this is a discussion that has already taken place upthread

I like the desert treks and I'd hang onto the Stan Smiths too

dmr, Sunday, 21 November 2010 18:08 (fifteen years ago)

like the SBs and the clarks

i really want to splurge on these boots

http://www.contextclothing.com/images/product/1152.jpg

mizzell, Sunday, 21 November 2010 18:16 (fifteen years ago)

gah i spent forever yesterday looking for boots/shoes in two different malls, sooo much ugly. I want something like those aldens but I don't need 40 eyelets on a 6" boot, jeez.

Kerm, Sunday, 21 November 2010 18:32 (fifteen years ago)

i get lots of compliments on those ponyhair footscapes. i like the modern-primitive look, the comfort/ventilation is off the hook, I can play tennis in them (though i don't), they're really soft and organic, etc. and the brown is really rich and primitive.

my biggest concern about my shoes is a sense of redundancy. then again my favorite kind of pasta is olive oil + one ingredient.

moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 21 November 2010 19:57 (fifteen years ago)

whoops didn't mean to say the brown was primitive, meant to say it was vibrant

moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 21 November 2010 20:09 (fifteen years ago)

ill buy the grey ponyhair nikes if youre selling think theyre swag as fuck

wld sell all the other nikes (except maybe the gery suede zooms cuz theyre classic dgaf a shoes) and the nb. do clarks really have resale value id be tempted to keep those around too

ive been slowly trimming my p ridic shoe 'collection' but only by tossing the most f'd up pairs. i have like eight pairs of sb mids in near mint that i shld sell since i never wear them anymore

newest shoes a pair of vintage british black leather wingtips from the 30s
