plax (ico), Thursday, 1 April 2010 17:09 (sixteen years ago)

i listened to mirage for the first time last night and was like wtf this album has 'wild heart' on it??

Venus in Fursuit (Future_Perfect), Thursday, 1 April 2010 17:43 (sixteen years ago)

does the album version not have that riff on it? (i can't for the life of me find it on youtube..)

my only exposure to the song is the backstage video and abe vigoda's cover of the song

my mom has that live album. iirc, stevie cries while introducing Landslide

jaxon, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 15:33 (sixteen years ago)

lol, i remember the reason i used to listen to that was because in HS smashing pumpkins covered that song

jaxon, Tuesday, 25 May 2010 15:37 (sixteen years ago)

probably my favourite FM album... i wrote a 'hidden treasures' piece on it when i started writing for NME, and complaints about the paper covering FM favourably were all over the letters page a week afterwards (this was 1999, ffs)

i'm kinda in this weird phase with rumours

like i've heard it before...but now i feel like i'm really *hearing* it, you know

like what a fucking amazingly well put together record...

smang a goon (get it on) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 31 January 2011 21:38 (fifteen years ago)

Rumours is top notch for reals.

not everything is a campfire (ian), Monday, 31 January 2011 23:24 (fifteen years ago)

honestly the fact that this girl clowns me for liking fleetwood mac is edging into dealbreaker territory

ullr saves (gbx), Monday, 31 January 2011 23:24 (fifteen years ago)

I don't blame you. I mean it's OK if she doesn't get it I guess but to actively clown you for it. That's an issue. My best friend is like this with them too and it kind of drives me nuts.

ENBB, Monday, 31 January 2011 23:26 (fifteen years ago)

it's not like all the time, but sometimes i want to have a mellow ass day and she frowns when i put on 'honey hi'

ullr saves (gbx), Monday, 31 January 2011 23:29 (fifteen years ago)

awww

ENBB, Monday, 31 January 2011 23:31 (fifteen years ago)

i posted this vid on FB and my mom responded w/this:

I will say it again ... you were born in the wrong generation. I had the good luck to have backstage passes to Fleetwood Mac with Loggins & Messina, early 70's. Stevie Nicks was as beautiful as legend has it. Wish I could say I remember Danny Kirwan.

jaxon, Monday, 31 January 2011 23:35 (fifteen years ago)

hahahah last sentence makes it

max, Monday, 31 January 2011 23:36 (fifteen years ago)

In the last ten years I've played Tusk and Tango in the Night (and its attendant 12" singles) far more often, but in those infrequent moments when I play Rumours I'm reminded of how weird, wonderful, perfect, and dangerous it is.

Rich Lolwry (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 31 January 2011 23:38 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i hate how tusks weirdness sometimes makes rumours seems comparatively safe

plax (ico), Monday, 31 January 2011 23:39 (fifteen years ago)

In its own way it's as dangerous as Never Mind the Bollocks -- and more subversive for selling twenty million copies.

Rich Lolwry (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 31 January 2011 23:41 (fifteen years ago)

I like Fleetwood Mac's songs fine and much respect for Buckingham's vision but a thousand Fleetwood Macs in a thousand studios working for a thousand years would still never write one lyric fit to stand next to even medium-strength Dan

I mean those of you who dig the artifice realize that FM are basically confessional folk with a lot of money behind it, right?

omar little, Monday, 31 January 2011 23:42 (fifteen years ago)

i mainly just think that lindsey buckingham has the best guitar style

plax (ico), Monday, 31 January 2011 23:43 (fifteen years ago)

sez someone who writes basically confessional folk with very little money behind it.
