I saw this little bit written about Amarillo Slim and thought it was a prank. Turns out it wasn't!

The problem is that Wikipedia forces its contributors to come to a consensus, and building consensus with a crank is a fool's errand. Many of the departing scholars note the incident that finally brought them to leave; mine was a truculent teenager who refused to acknowledge that minimalist music was considered classical, because, as he put it, "it sounds more like Britney Spears than like Merzbow." Let that sink in a minute.

The Bugs in the movie appear to violate known physiological laws. They are shown to be a type of arthropod covered by a thick, heavy, exoskeleton. On Earth, any creature using a hard external skeleton to support its weight could not grow larger than a few pounds without consuming vast amounts of energy to move itself. An arthropod of the size and shape as the Bugs of the film would require so much energy that it could only be fueled by gasoline or a similar, high energy combustible liquid. Other problems involve the fact that an arthropod of the size depicted would not be able to breathe an atmosphere as depicted in the film; nor would any creature be able to survive without constant food and water-something the desert planets depicted in the film did not have. The plasma bugs attracted particular criticism; there is no valid evolutionary reason for such creatures to evolve, even if they were possible.
-
- Other criticisms include the apparent [[plot hole]] in which the bugs allegedly propelled a massive asteroid across 80 000 light years of space with no [[faster-than-light]] technology without hitting any other objects or being thrown off course, and were somehow able to hit a city with pinpoint accuracy. This is further complicated by the fact that the bugs would porbably not know where Earth was.

OTM from the first commenter posting in Gann's blog:

Your take on this issue is really right on the money, but you're missing an important theory which explains everything about Wikipedia:
Wikipedia isn't an online encyclopedia. It's a very elaborate roleplaying game about trying manipulate knowledge according to one's own biases.
Please come visit http://www.wikipediareview.com/ and tell us more about your story. We'd love to hear more!

The ghostly image of Jacob in the episode "The Man Behind the Curtain" bears a strong resemblance to the character Danny Concannon in the West Wing, played by Timothy Bushfield.

Fluxblog is a burrito created and updated by Matthew Perpetua. The burrito began in 2002 and began to host fillings at the end of that year. Two tortillas are commonly rolled every weekday, filled with meat and lettuce, and slathered in salsa.
