dmr (Renard), Saturday, 16 September 2006 17:58 (nineteen years ago)

i did initially, dmr, but i opened stuffit and dragged the file across and it opened eventually. thanks to vahid and dominique for the pom pom - which i've yet to check out!

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 16 September 2006 18:06 (nineteen years ago)

dmr (Renard), Saturday, 16 September 2006 18:11 (nineteen years ago)

dmr (Renard), Saturday, 16 September 2006 19:40 (nineteen years ago)

Hey, Pom Pom 10b is one of my faves too sweet.

Also, apparently mr. pom pom works at a record shop in berlin? this is what my friend who does a radio show called 'gay ecstasy house party' tells me, though, so i am not sure.

also would you please take down mobilee first, vahid

Python... No Bite :B (flezaffe), Saturday, 16 September 2006 21:38 (nineteen years ago)

gregory isaacs "wish me luck"

sounding quite different than he did in the 70s. cocaine-ravaged voice over nice tinny digital beat. can't imagine what the later stuff sounds like, his voice apparently got even worse but he still put out records and performed live

señor citizen (eman), Monday, 18 September 2006 16:59 (nineteen years ago)

fake japanese funk by frenchies handed to me by my insane coworker earlier today. i will share with bros:

Yamasuki
Le Monde Fabuleux Des Yamasuki

"For those in need of epic, exotic, metronomic and dare I say it 'proto-psychedelic-hip-hop that defies categorization' you need look and listen no further. An educational-bubblegum-multi-cultural-psych-rock-opera with lavish choral arrangements and triple-fat beats and bass-lines is the only way to describe this 1971 French/Japanese choreography LP which was designed to bridge the European and Eastern-Asian culture-gap through the power of deep and funky music. This pseudo-Japanese concept album was the brainchild of prolific French production duo Jean Kluger and Daniel Vangarde. Based on a dance named the 'Yamasuki,' it was originally released in very small quantities on the independent label Biram in 1972, inadvertently becoming a useful educational tool for French students keen to learn Japanese. Yamasuki is a collection of beautiful pop songs, sung by a Japanese choir, offset to pounding drum patterns, vibes and fuzz guitar work-outs. The hip-hop-esque beats of 'Yama Yama' and 'Kono Samuri' have made the original LP a highly sought-after relic for break collectors and loop diggers. So that's all you need to know, apart from the added information that original copies of this record are as rare as the usual Finders Keepers hand-carved-stallion-stools; and for those who are asking... this IS the first time Yamasuki has been released on compact disc, as well as being beautifully recreated on DJ- friendly black vinyl. It's also been mastered by Jean Kluger himself from the original studio tapes."
