not a super-zingy zing, but the funnier it's pointed out to Morbs that he's still posting on the Inglourious Basterds thread the better

so has morbs actually seen any movies? i am confused
― plaxico (I know, right?), Tuesday, 5 January 2010 21:48 (sixteen years ago)
i feel like maybe he starts his reviews "despite not actually having seen this movie..."
I think Morbs is just predisposed against movies that attract "fanboys," which you could say is true for both Tarantino and Apatow. (And probably James Cameron.) But the very phenomenon -- call it the Ain't It Cool News-ification of film appreciation -- gets him so het up he can't help but rant about it wherever possible, including on threads devoted to such movies.

if UP IN THE AIR takes Best Screenplay over this it's a crime
They are in different categories; UitA is adapted from a novel. This is "original," and would lose to the oh-so "original" Quentin Tarantino if it was nominated, which it won't be.

it seems weird to me that the public (at least on the internet) seems ovewhelmingly behind Conan and yet Leno is the guy NBC trusts with the ratings. "silent majority" eh? I don't know anyone who likes Leno.

Since you don't prejudge anything ever, why don't you go review the diviest-lookin greasy spoon in Mtl tonight. I'm sure it will be delicious!
Guys, when you're my age, you will know what you like by the degree to which ppl with awful taste chatter about it for 3 months. Or you'll still be loving "postmodern" drive-in movies.
jaymc, I liked Titanic and will see Avatar when I have a chance, so stfu.

I liked the first 6 hours of it. The last 3 hours dragged.

― Rage, Resentment, Spleen (Dr Morbius), Friday, 15 January 2010 21:42 (sixteen years ago)
Actually yeah, that's true. My wife loved the movie, so I had to sit through it several times. I liked it the first time, then the sec. . . zzzzzzzzzz

i love greasy spoons!
but seriously... if something doesn't seem my thing... i don't spend tons of time and energy talking about how terrible it is if i don't even bother to check it out myself! like, this hypothetical restaurant of yours, i might not review it, but i wouldn't talk at length about how awful it was until I TRIED IT!
― fleetwood (s1ocki), Friday, 15 January 2010 22:32 (sixteen years ago)
u think i have awful taste :(
I dunno, I think it's OK to talk about stuff you don't like too.
("Titanic" I thought was atrocious, BTW)

I saw "titanic", yes. LOLed from time to time at its terribleness while watching it, felt really miserable abt how bad it was afterwards.

Not always, just when you boys get in a group and start talkin bout yr best friend "QT" and which of the subplots he spoke about in that one interview 3 years ago will end up on the DVD.
Since I have been known to quote Wrath of Khan and Planet of the Apes in strange contexts, perhaps I just like "fanboy" movies that are good.
