welllll.... they were the VOOOOOREDOMS all right ... always a treat. still, it was essentially the exact same show as last year.

only this time, much shorter, plus daylight, plus no extended 3Y3-with-the-ball-thingies intro ... all added up to a good time, but no godhead. Last year I was freakin FLYING, goosebumps style. Today: merely "GREAT".

Roky Erickson was a treat and 1 half to see: remarkably together and seemingly enjoying himself very much. He played "Splash 1" from the 1st Elevators album!!! woah.

I went today and it kind of blew ... that's more due to it being a Sunday, I think. Sundays always blow. the dread of work. plus there was no one I REALLY wanted to see other than Blue Cheer. But Jon Brion was really entertaining, liked him a lot. think I'm actually gonna call in sick tomorrow, fuck it.

Is it normal to have to resist urges to grab strangers by the lapels and scream "V∞REDOMS!" at them a couple days after a show?

(Saw Boredoms on the last night of ATP LA 2002 but was so overloaded by then that I could barely take it in, and was not troubled by Tourettish impulses later.)
