― TOMBOT, Thursday, 7 June 2007 20:07 (nineteen years ago)

― Dr Morbius, Saturday, 9 June 2007 16:42 (nineteen years ago)
steve shasta-
i'm stationed on the north shore for a few days. know anything good to do after 6pm?
mahaloz.
― gr8080, Thursday, 21 June 2007 08:09 (eighteen years ago)
shasta, why aren't i getting any smarter? related: why don't i ever learn? i'll take answers on either. thanks. give my best to vivvvvvvy.
― chicago kevin, Thursday, 21 June 2007 09:08 (eighteen years ago)
steve shasta why does sake not give you hangovers?
also i drank my $6 sake last night, chilled, and yes, it didn't really taste that awesome
― river wolf, Thursday, 21 June 2007 16:13 (eighteen years ago)
gr8080:
i usually stay at friend's folks' house near V-land (velzyland), it's usually pretty mellow broin' down (although Jack Johnson showed up one night before I knew who he was, but then again maybe he wasn't famous then either). those guys are all pretty hard core dawn patrollers so i've never really lived it up. sorry... although now i'm recalling that the turtle bay hilton has a bar that i went to once late at night. nothing to report other than a bevy of hawaiian tropic bikini contestants and their devoted admirees.
kt:
mind over matter. i read a quote yesterday that said (i paraphrase): travelling makes you smarter but not any happier. so find somewhere to go: maybe a natural setting with water and insect/animal sounds. will pass it along to viv.
rw:
how many ml? if 720, ouch: you won the russian roullette with your lack of hangover. Is this the Trader Joes one?
― Steve Shasta, Thursday, 21 June 2007 16:46 (eighteen years ago)
i had almost half a bottle of this http://www.ozekisake.com/image/IMG_0857.JPG
...i mean, it wasn't terrible or anything, but my experience with sake is somewhat limited
― river wolf, Thursday, 21 June 2007 16:49 (eighteen years ago)
750mL
i had an $8 bottle of sake (not tj's) that was pretty big and also not so hangovery, even for cheapness! i think sake is a happy kind of drunk and even if you're groggy the next day you're not totally unfunctional. steve, do you think sake is happy-making moreso than other alcoholic beverages, or am i making this up?
― tehresa, Thursday, 21 June 2007 16:51 (eighteen years ago)
i swear i read someplace that sake is hangover proof.
― river wolf, Thursday, 21 June 2007 16:54 (eighteen years ago)
rw, that is cooking sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
― Steve Shasta, Thursday, 21 June 2007 16:55 (eighteen years ago)
haha, pwned
i bought it at the gas station!
― river wolf, Thursday, 21 June 2007 17:01 (eighteen years ago)
i didn't know any better!
― river wolf, Thursday, 21 June 2007 17:03 (eighteen years ago)
hehe, it's all good. you have an iron constitution! that's awesome.
― Steve Shasta, Thursday, 21 June 2007 17:08 (eighteen years ago)
tehresa- yeah it seems to be easier on me much better than other alcohols, not sure why.
― Steve Shasta, Thursday, 21 June 2007 17:10 (eighteen years ago)
yeah but now what am i gonna do with the rest of that sake
― river wolf, Thursday, 21 June 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)
if it didn't give me a hangover i'd be drinking $6 sake til the end of time!!!!
but if you worried that you dodged a bullet, cook up some veggies and pour that in with some soy sauce.
― Steve Shasta, Thursday, 21 June 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)
maybe i will do both!
― river wolf, Thursday, 21 June 2007 17:20 (eighteen years ago)
yeah srsly i would say just drink the rest if it worked out ok the 1st time but alas this is shasta's thread so i'll let him be the sake advice giver.
shasta do you think the happy drunk is because its light color or the grain they use? i have no idea.
― tehresa, Thursday, 21 June 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)
so find somewhere to go: maybe a natural setting with water
thanks, actually i'll be san diego county in 10 days, two blocks from the beach. skin cancer ahoy!
― chicago kevin, Thursday, 21 June 2007 23:54 (eighteen years ago)

^^^WARNING: Member of POSTAL SERVICE^^^
So can't you hear my voice? I was next door in the DJ booth. If you look around 00:35-00:37 you can see the KXLU radio station door where I was, the live bands played in the next room down (part of the LMU sound engineer studio).
FUN FACT: Weezer cut their demo around that same time, and we all made fun of them and they all got rich and famous. I like that Rentals song "Friends of P" though.
ALSO FUN FACT: This was the first US performance of any of the SUPER AE material. I think this was the time when they were touring with TFUL282 joint-headlining. They played later that day at the Palace which is now something else (Dean?).
ONE MORE FUN FACT: "Claude Zachary"s real name is Dan V. and was a friend of gygax!(RIP)'s. O_o

FUN FACT: Weezer cut their demo around that same time,
I meant to say at "cut their demo at that same studio."

Important denim-related question for Steve Shasta!
I have found some jeans I am 100% pleased with, but they only come in one color. I would like to purchase multiple pairs of these jeans, and then possibly do something to differentiate them from one another. They're on the darker side, so lightening them with bleach would be nice, but I don't want some horrible splattery jacked-up look. Is there any technique that could provide smooth, even, inconspicuous lightening? And what would you suggest for other ways -- like, I dunno, patches and whatnot -- to differentiate these multiple perfect jeans from one another?
― nabisco, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 20:32 (eighteen years ago)
patches
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

#1. summer friendly salt wash bleach sand tip: go to beach. wear jeans in water. run around. play in sand. lay jeans out to dry in intense sun light. don't wash for 1-4 weeks.
#2. friend with laundry tip: do you have a friend with washer/dryer? if so, repeatedly wash in hot hot water (whites). dry on hot.
#3. bathtub edition. similar to #2, soak in hot tub with a healthy dose of industrial strength stain remover.
when done to adequate fade, cast with green, red, blue, gray, or black dye to desired results.

Hi Steve,
Have you given this any thought? This is from PitchforkMedia, and it always strikes me as funny-strange:
Most-read-reviews
* 1. Ricardo Villalobos Thè au Harem d'Archiméde * 2. José González Veneer * 3. Electric Six Señor Smoke * 4. Devendra Banhart Niño Rojo * 5. José González Stay in the Shade EP * 6. Sinéad O'Connor Sean-Nós Nua * 7. Nas Hip Hop Is Dead * 8. Amadou & Mariam Dimanche à Bamako * 9. Nelly Furtado Loose * 10. Brightblack Morning Light Brightblack Mo...
There's like accents and stuff everywhere!
Thanks in advance, Pete

Also there's a typo in there. It should be "Nás".
― admrl, Monday, 9 July 2007 19:51 (eighteen years ago)
(nabisco explained that once, something to do with search engine weirdness, sadly enough.)(may not be the official shasta answer however)
