I know. I'm almost tempted to find out which series that happened in, but afraid it was only mentioned in passing. I would read a series about that, though.

Interesting to note that the only "people of color" on CBR Readers' Poll of Top 50 Favourite DC characters are Martian Manhunter, Sinestro and, arguably, Darkseid. http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2011/09/01/2011-top-100-dc-and-marvel-comic-book-characters-master-list/

The new Blue Beetle is Latino, and I think Renee Montoya is supposed to be too, though it seems to be a bit ambiguous with her. But yeah, it's true that DC seems to have a much worse track record in developing non-white superheroes than Marvel. (Not that Marvel really excels in that either.)

I've always thought Marvel has more interesting female heroes than DC, but it doesn't look like the fanboys agree... The highest ranking female character is Emma Frost at #17, whereas the DC list at least has two women in the top 10. Interestingly though, both of those two probably own some of their current popularity to having had a good female writer (Gail Simone) writing them. I don't think Marvel has any notable female writers at the moment, or do they?

I was going to suggest not since Agent X ended, but in fact Kathryn Immonen's pretty good, if not exactly at the top of the totem pole.

Kelly Sue DeConnick's Osborn miniseries wasn't bad/wasn't great. She's cowriting something with Bendis, I think...? Immonen's Hellcat mini was really weird, in a good way -- seemed to have a whacked-out Jaime Hernandez-influenced approach to superhero stuff.

eight years pass...

De Laurentiis then hired Nicolas Roeg to make the film. Roeg, an admirer of the original Alex Raymond comic strips, spent a year in pre-production work.[10][11] However, De Laurentiis was unhappy with Roeg's treatment of Flash Gordon, and Roeg left the project.[10] De Laurentiis also considered hiring Sergio Leone to direct the Flash Gordon film; Leone refused, because he believed the script was not faithful to the original Raymond comic strips.
