Well...I'm working on my deegre thesis which is about independent comics from the end of the seventies till the beginning of the nineties and the rise of the figure of the "author" (it's more complicated and intelligent than it sounds here, I promise) and I was looking for some good books to use as bibliography. Do you know any?. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated!.

I think Charles Hatfield's book ALTERNATIVE COMICS: AN EMERGING LITERATURE would be suitable for your purposes. It's a thoughtful overview of the scene, with an emphasis on Pekar and Gilbert Hernandez.

Also, uh... there's my book! Except it's not out until the end of June!

Yeah, I'll probably end up buying your book too, Douglas, but I don't know when :P

The Hatfield book seems really interesting and I'll buy it for sure. Thanks!

fifteen years pass...

I was looking to see if there was any reference to bibliographies on the site . Have been reading books and then copying out bibliographies from them so was wondering if there were any sites/resources people knew of that had bibliographies displayed. which might hopefully mean the ones I was manually copying might already be accessible.
I have just been hit with 2x 30 pp in a bibliography them a discography in the book on Mande Music at a time when I'm finding my arm feels leaden fro flu or something. Probably going to find a number of the books I'm reading might be too obscure for a site like that should one exist. But things like bell hooks bibliographies on feminism would seem to be things that people would want to share, also nell Irving Painter's History of the White People.
Most of the ones I've tried to copy have been library books so have a finite amount of time to read the bibliography.
Just seems to be taking a long time and i think a resource like that would be useful.
