Not strictly a comic book but I feel like the likely audience for the show would be centered here rather than ILE

Is anyone else watching this?

I am. Most recent episode (5) was probably the best comic adaptation yet, surpassing the X Men films.

It feels a bit too clean -- not janky enough! Actually, it feels like it has a higher animation budget than something like Invincible.
I wonder what a retro 00s or 10s revival would look like since cartoons feel flatter and less distinct by decade.

I agree about episode 5, just absolutely incredible stuff. It makes me mad that they fired the show runner.

Are they looking to do another run? It seems like they wouldn't want to do more than one season in case they wanted to launch another "contemporary" X-Men cartoon to capitalize on whatever live action one is in the works.

Can I just watch the fifth one and skip the others?

I shared this in the MCU thread:

X-Men ‘97’s latest episode: HOLY SMOKES!!

I am very close to crowing this the best MCU product.

Right there with you. This show, much like the original series, has wildly surpassed my expectations.

They have a convenient and nostalgia-accurate "previously on X-men..." that catches you up for each episode except for bizarrely the first one.

The fourth one is more fun though:

"Oh dear."

*A gigantic head flops its purple tongue into an elevator*

"I think one of us has the wrong floor."

I’ve been enjoying this, but the latest episode genuinely made my jaw drop.

I'm also enjoying this very much but wish the theme song would leave my brain occasionally

The scene where Storm regained her abilities is one of the best comic book adaptations I’ve seen from an energy and motion perspective.

Astounding that it's doing Claremont (forty years old) via Morrison (twenty years old) with a vaguely 2020s sensibility over the top of that, and it's not totally incoherent

I don't think I've ever knowingly read a Gambit comic though
