That second-last one in Huk's first post looks like it directly inspired the Flash Of Two Worlds-stylee story that Morrison did in Secret Origins, written in the form of a primary-school class project by Gar Logan.

There's also an issue with the Flash looking out at you on the cover saying something like "Stop! Buy this comic! My life depends on it!" I love the Infantino Flashes, and am very much looking forward to buying all of them in Showcase volumes.

The magnificent John Broome! (mostly-- Gardner Fox wrote "Flash of Two Worlds" and Robert Kanigher wrote the first appearances, and I bet the design team of Julie Schwartz/Carmine Infantino was actually responsible for the daft ideas on the covers, b/c covers got drawn before the feature stories were written, right?) (John Broome also wrote the Green Lantern run that just got Showcased)

I thought that GM had specifically pointed out the Cary Bates written FLASH as a huge influence on his work. But if the above are written by Broome, then that influence weighs just as heavily in GMs work.

And yes, please get a FLASH showcase out, posthaste!

I remember Grant talking to me about the '60s Flash as a particular favourite of his. (The Cary Bates ones are often really good too.)
