I'd like to try the long sideways, stapled at the short edge format sometime. I love the way that when you open a CT it's about five times as wide as it is tall.

His views on Judaism are pretty weird - he's pro-Jew, believing they will all convert moments before the Rapture.

Fundies love Jews the way stalkers love stalkees.

DO these all end with "START WITH THE GOSPEL OF JOHN" or were those the Archie Xtian comics?

There's a 99% chance Jack Chick is totally evil, 1% chance he is the comic genius

Z S, Tuesday, 24 August 2010 05:59 (fifteen years ago)

"don't worry henry, jesus will forgive you for being a nonce, just like he forgave all those priests."

max arrrrrgh, Tuesday, 24 August 2010 18:34 (fifteen years ago)

what's the % chance he's insane? everything i've read about him paints him as being a very savvy marketeer.
is there anyone carrying the torch for jack chick in webcomics?

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 24 August 2010 18:50 (fifteen years ago)

don't worry henry, jesus will forgive you for being a nonce, just like he forgave all those priests."

lol Chick's not very favorably inclined to Catholicism FYI

it's pretty clear he's totally bonkers from what few personal details have emerged

glitter hands! glitter hands! razzle! dazzle! (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 24 August 2010 19:13 (fifteen years ago)

there was a guy in the 90s who did a comic-book length analysis of Jack Chick, went to his offices to meet him, etc. blanking on his name, having trouble googling it

glitter hands! glitter hands! razzle! dazzle! (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 24 August 2010 19:14 (fifteen years ago)

kinda shocked there's no mention of the guy turning himself in to the cops at the end of that comic... just says soz and gets a do-over :/

max arrrrrgh, Tuesday, 24 August 2010 19:14 (fifteen years ago)

my favorite exchange is when henry tells his wife that she just made the situation worse

('_') (omar little), Tuesday, 24 August 2010 19:15 (fifteen years ago)

re: jack chick analysis, was it Dan Raeburn?

it just seemed that the bonkers comics was a means to an end, and he himself is just regular xian bonkers.

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 24 August 2010 19:21 (fifteen years ago)

ah yes that's him. The Imp #2.

glitter hands! glitter hands! razzle! dazzle! (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 24 August 2010 19:30 (fifteen years ago)

cool he put it up for free online!

his chris ware book is amazing if that's the one i'm thinking about. you feel like you are absolved of any cosmic responsibility to be a cultural custodian of chris ware, because he's in good hands.

“Fill me with your love,” a man prays on his knees, his rump turned to face the reader: “I’m vile and unworthy.”

i find i have an abstract affection for the catholic-hating evangelicals, cos it seems like they're already in a lost world

but there's probably a hell of a lot of them still around.

I like the kid who introduces himself with "The kids call me slime because my parents are still married."

BIG HII'M aka the teendriver (crüt), Tuesday, 24 August 2010 22:47 (fifteen years ago)

Implying that Chick thinks kids whose parents are divorced are godless sinners?

I agree. I think he's currently catering to the tastes of the people who read his comics as camp in the hope of saving a few souls among the way, and I'm bothered that everyone is taking his bait.

I like the idea of a Jack Chick videogame.

You would have to make loads of different choices, and at the end you would be sent to Hell by God.
