Nice and succinct.

OMG I BURNT THE POTROAST! *shame*

Holy shit, I'm chatty today-- I must be trying to make up for the lack of new contributors all by myself! Well, OK, actually I'm just letting fly on a lot of stuff I was sitting on for a while, in between writing my midterms. Sorry if it's boring, but the nice thing about densely (un)formatted blocks of text is that it's a disincentive to read them, I guess. Mea culpa-- I'm not out to 44r0n Hz the board down or anything.

Anyway, I was going to say that I'm sort of glad that there was no result from this. I mean, at least nothing bad happened as a result. Can anyone tell me if there was any traffic at all as a result of the link? I'm curious as to how many people actually follow the recommendations from Grant's column now (I know that I usually don't, so I suppose the outcome should have been no surprise).

I CERTAINLY DID NOT FOLLOW ANY LINKS FROM CBR TO HERE. WHY, I HAVE BEEN HERE ALL ALONG. ahem.

It has been a bit busier lately.

I blame amphetamines.

Chris I remember when ILX was going to be featured in the Guardian (national UK newspaper) for the first time and there was enormous paranoia and feelings we shd be on our best/worst behaviour (views varied) and great anticipation and then we got absolutely nobody new from it.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 27 October 2005 16:32 (eighteen years ago) link

What did the Guardian have to say?

"Biff! Bang! Pow! Internet Message Boards aren't just for kids"

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Thursday, 27 October 2005 17:41 (eighteen years ago) link

Bless you, Jeff. That actually occurred to me when I was reading you on the other threads just now-- glad to have you here!

Awesome story, Tom. I wonder how many people even did a look-thru, though! I was a bit miffed when last week in his column Grant started bitching about how there's no substantial critical content about comics on message boards. "Tell them Chris and I sent you", indeed-- did he just look at the New Answers page and then split? Ergh!

I blame amphetamines.

In my case, I blame not wanting to write my paper about Kant...

I first came to ILX after reading that piece in the Guardian, actually. It was all about ILM though, ILC didn't even exist yet back in those days of innocence...

Though, by now its easily my favourite comics board.

Haha on the day the article appeared, Mark C (not the current MarkC, the golden age one) started a thread on "The Guardian, Classic or Dud?"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 28 October 2005 09:52 (eighteen years ago) link

Is it just me, or does Steven Grant's challenge this week have more than a hint of WHAT ILC HAS BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS WEEK about the answer?

Steven, show yourself!

They're all inoffensively mediocre?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 4 November 2005 15:00 (eighteen years ago) link

That Aquaman cover is NICE!

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 4 November 2005 15:03 (eighteen years ago) link

Aquaman used to have great covers.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 4 November 2005 15:09 (eighteen years ago) link

(have we ever had a thread where we enjoy Aquaman covers?)

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 4 November 2005 16:10 (eighteen years ago) link

(we do now)
