Please delete outrageous Scaruffi copypasta

please delete wins's long list of bands (divided up into 5 posts) from the thread Best glitch-music albums of all times. it was a cool and cutting-edge prank in October 2013, but it clogs up the search function whenever you search for one of the artists on the list. thanks in advance.

all those old ones with what seems like entire chapters of ulysses or w/e from ediii can go too if it's possible.

also size limit on posts or triple hits of fp for posts over however many words in future

This. I will totally volunteer my services as a janitor/mod re: cleaning up all this garbage. To be fair, it's not just Kerr. There were tons of polls that approached noms in this fashion and it's really gummed up the search function for ILM.

my finger is stubby and worn and my phone screen is scrappy and inaccurate and who has the time to try to hit a checkbox on a moving tram in these circumstances not me anyway

there are reasons aplenty to want to search for glitch-music artists such as Al Green and Aimee Mann and not limit the search to ILM.

For fancy ILX searching I use Google.

having taken sarahell's comments into consideration, I spent the past 5 hours reeducating myself on the search function and came up with the following workaround:

"ron sexsmith" NOT displayName:wins NOT displayName:Edward III

the last bit may be unnecessary — I haven't read Ulysses & I'm not sure if it contains the names of Bands. I'll defer to the experts on that point.

correction:

"ron sexsmith" NOT displayName:"wins" NOT displayName:"Edward III"

(still new at this, bear with me)

it's all there in the search function if you hit Show Search Hints. but don't attempt that stuff if you're not certified, or you'll end up doing some serious damage to the site (DEL displayName:"unregistered" will delete all of a user's posts, so you've been warned).

At any rate that would be a poor solution because although you would avoid the scaruffi mischief you would also inadvertently filter out all my insightful posts about bands, for instance when I say if I like a band or if I don't like a band

Scaruffi gave his first album a 7/10 (a shockingly high score for a Beatlesque singer-songwriter album) but seems to have cooled on his recent output

(I don't feel comfortable sharing my own opinions about Mr. Sexsmith on a public messageboard)

ok, so what I've done is c&p the original thread into a new thread, then deleted the old thread. hopefully that will work.

err, I can't say I'm thrilled with your solution (the implication being "emojis are allowed in thread titles, but if you make the mistake of including an emoji in your thread title, we will have no choice but to delete it"), but if that's the only way to address the zing issue in this instance, then http://i.imgur.com/Jzt1cVi.png?1.

the best options in the long run are either to repair the zing bug or to create a prompt (similar to the "Possible Existing Threads..." prompt) that prevents people from including emojis in thread titles — but I realize that quite a bit of work is required to implement either of those solutions. at present, "no emojis in thread titles" is an unwritten rule that I don't think many people here are aware of.

I'll bring the problem up with stet, but my temporary solution was just fine thank you.
