i tried to post the following:

ouch, ie7 blows a javascript asket with every keystroke... i had to type this in a text editor and c+p it in.
m.

then i couldn't log in and probably don't have an account there anymore. 10-15 minutes later and still no confirmation email.

this may not be the board for this... apologies but nothing else jumped out.

Oh dear... I'll get rid of the HTML warning thing from the thread page. Registration sending an email is sometimes slow (I need to stick a warning up about this), though if it had actually failed, you would likely have got an error message when you registered. Give me a shout if you don't receive your password in the next day or so.

Thanks for letting me know.

Here are a couple things I've noticed in 2.2:

it seems to log me out a lot more often and a lot more quickly
using IE, it has that same blank screen after posting problem that we used to have here
apostrophes don't seem to work. you get all that 5 character gobblydegook (again, on European IE--fine in firefox)

Jergins, the logging out is most likely because you're moving between this ILX and the sandbox one.

The IE thing, again we seem to think is cookie related. It seems to go away when people delete them, but I'm not absolutely sure of what's causing this. It doesn't happen for me, which makes it tricky to debug.

Aha - the apostrophe problem is an IE one. I couldn't work out what people were on about, because it works fine for me. I'll look into it.

Thanks.

Jergins,

Is the '5 character gobblydegook' ' ?

Keith, Friday, 18 May 2007 13:36 (nineteen years ago)

OK... It is...

It's fixed now. Pity, as there's nothing wrong with the code. IE should display ' as an apostrophe, as it's a strict XHTML document, the thread page, but it doesn't, so I've just taken that out. Should work OK now.

Thanks...

oh yeah that was the gobblydegook. thanx
