I think the banjo account was rejected yesterday because there were two attempts to register showing on the page. I tried again just now and it went through.

I'm not going to delete that thread, maybe another mod will be more sympathetic. It's a good reminder of what not to do, so I don't want to memory-hole it. I would like to know which login you'd like to post from — Hospital Radio, milo, or tremolo — so I can permaban the other two. One account is plenty.

yeah, fair enough that you don't wanna delete it. i should have thought harder before posting inflammatory stuff and i've definitely learned my lesson. hopefully the thread can serve as a caution for others.

i'd like to keep tremolo, thank you for asking - i didn't intend to use the other two anymore anyway and only used HR in this thread to verify it was the original poster asking for the thread to be deleted.

I am also against deleting the thread - we tend to be a bit more "live with your mistakes" here unless there's a good reason to get rid of something, and a) I don't think you said anything wildly offensive, just kinda snide, and b) it'll probably get lost in searches amidst the actual hospital radio stations clogging up people searching for your name.

I am, however, happy to lock the thread if you'd like? That'll stop people bumping it and forever reminding you of your introduction to the board.

welcome tremolo! i didn't read the phoebe bridgers thread but i have more than my fair share of threads i regret. i think what you've done here -- acknowledge it, apologize and show that's not how you'd like to be, and move on rather than obsessing about it self-loathing -- is a good example

Leaving out a lot of artists/albums I've already seen in several of these Top 50s. Impulse Energy Essentials was pretty" in the section above (not below) the poll options, marked Poll Text. Don't forget to debug your bolds and italics before you redo it, they're pretty messed up.

maybe it needs a "do not read if you hate me" in the title ... idk ... in general, the response was fairly mild in terms of ilx negative responses, but contextually not all threads/posters are cool with that, and it could at least set boundaries/tone ... idk. I didn't see tlg's response as being inherently awful or weird but contextually since ivy was upset by it ...

I thought it was extremely weird to criticize someone’s word choice/choice of metaphors like right outta the gate. Like, why? As if there’s not enough hackneyed writing out there to criticize and someone needed their critical vitamins?? Idgi.
I’d feel attacked if someone did that to me too. Also I would never add “do not read if you hate me” to virtually anything bc I feel like that goes without saying. And why would anyone HATE me? Or Ivy?

Seems like someone was In a Mood and lashed out needlessly. I can’t make people have more self control but I can suggest it’d be nice if we exercised it more rigorously.

I don’t think any of it should be deleted tho — I’m a firm believer in you pressed submit/you live with it (unless it contains personal details or similar)

Would they have been upset or expressed upset? People, like imago for instance, will generally get criticized for their opinions or for the way they express those opinions not for the way they use the English language. What's next? LOL you can't spell?

(my 2c is that it was such a deeply unsolicited and unnecessary leaping-in-with-a-chair that it can't be viewed as anything other than hostile, V admitted he had no interest in the music! dick move - sure, aimed at a perhaps slightly more beloved poster, so not short of callers-out, but a dick move for sure. what made it stand out is that such dick moves are rare on ilx in 2023, even if you'd have gotten more of that sort of thing on old ilx)

(that said, as has been speculated it probably generated more engagement with the thread than it may have otherwise gotten? admittedly not the sort of engagement you'd really want)
