seeing those both together it looks like a font weight thing, maybe a letter spacing thing. the firefox titles do look slighter than they used to. it's perhaps a bit more noticeable when the title is short.

(but no, it's not an ilx problem)

the hide text thingy is grebt but seems to be thwarted by line breaks -- could its effects be made to continue (like other such tags) until it reaches a /hiddentext ?

that would mean it would have to start in one div and end in another, which is hard. ie

div first paragraph with some h hidden text /div

div second paragraph, still hidden /h visible again /div

(the divs might need p tags but same thing)

By having a minor piece of punctuation on the "break" lines.

Just tested this on HTML Playground: it seems to work even with a space as your "minor piece of punctuation" on the line between the faked paras.

do tweet embeds not work anymore? just wondering if it's my browser/adblocker. they appear as blockquotes but don't load as embeds, for me.

fwiw i have a pretty aggressive privacy/adblock setup that causes tweets to behave like that for me

I disable javascript (using noscript in firefox for example) and that prevents the twitter embeds.

your adblocker might have an option to filter out social or "share" stuff. that usually breaks embedded tweets.

(i.e. try disabling that option)

hi stet, youtube embedding is great, but would be cool to teach the regex not to try to embed links to youtube channels (which don't work), e.g. this post got mangled. obviously this is not the end of the world.

Hi there, what's the best method of pasting an image on a thread these days?

Still [ img ] tags. You have to put the address of an image file in between the tags, not a web page, and if you link to an image on a major social media platform, it won’t display for many people.

an integrated image thingie would be amazing but imgur works pretty well. as others have said, the ios “post to imgur” shortcut makes this a very slick process.

i would like to thank the ilx code cru for the hidden text feature without which the fun Semantle thread would not be possible

last night it kept asking me to login and I've had 5 of so posts that didn't post, just returned a blank page. something seems wrong, but it also feels like it'd be impossible to debug.

Without announcement, OpenAI recently added details about its web crawler, GPTBot, to its online documentation site. GPTBot is the name of the user agent that the company uses to retrieve webpages to train the AI models behind ChatGPT, such as GPT-4. Earlier this week, some sites quickly announced their intention to block GPTBot's access to their content.

In the new documentation, OpenAI says that webpages crawled with GPTBot "may potentially be used to improve future models," and that allowing GPTBot to access your site "can help AI models become more accurate and improve their general capabilities and safety."

i was wondering if ilx will move to block GPTBot as well. for what it's worth, i register as a hard "please block GPTBot" vote
