Link?

Finn T Buoty (darraghmac), Thursday, 1 March 2018 01:23 (eight years ago)

I'll take a look, sleepingbag. For now, does typing / first help?

stet, Thursday, 1 March 2018 19:46 (eight years ago)

nah, typing / doesn't work. this isn't a big deal really i don't know why i asked :/ my forums experience is overall a+ great. i'd say don't sweat it unless it's literally like one-click easy. thank you!

sleepingbag, Thursday, 1 March 2018 20:31 (eight years ago)

one month passes...

I get poxy fule error when I post Twitter links in my phone's chrome browser. Don't get this on other devices.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Saturday, 14 April 2018 19:09 (eight years ago)

Nevermind, figured it out. The Twitter app on my phone adds some extra characters to its tweet links that ILX doesn't like. Deleted them and post worked.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Saturday, 14 April 2018 19:13 (eight years ago)

^ thanks for that, you've solved the same problem for me

the salacious inaudible (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 15 April 2018 21:12 (eight years ago)

i keep getting broken image links (firefox, linux, probably others) usually embeds from twitter and imgur. the src looks ok and the link works when clicked on but it doesn't show up inline.

here's one (twitter):

here's another (imgur):

bear say hi to me

koogs, Monday, 16 April 2018 19:02 (eight years ago)

the bear say hi to me imgur link posted by latham green is broken just because it points to an imgur album rather than an individual imgur image

(not sure i did that the way normal people do imgur pics)

koogs, Monday, 16 April 2018 20:44 (eight years ago)

that should be the standard ilx “server is down bear with us” page

why does the site show up as "Not Secure" in the searchbar? Using Chrome btw.

Heavy Messages (jed_), Friday, 20 April 2018 18:22 (eight years ago)

oh, it's not any more.

Heavy Messages (jed_), Friday, 20 April 2018 18:43 (eight years ago)

It'll do that if you visit a page which has an image posted that is hosted on an http site

stet, Friday, 20 April 2018 19:30 (eight years ago)

ah, i see.

Heavy Messages (jed_), Friday, 20 April 2018 19:51 (eight years ago)

this has probably been asked 000's of times but...

what order are my bookmarks in? it seems so random.

Heavy Messages (jed_), Friday, 27 April 2018 22:45 (eight years ago)

I'm afraid it was over ten years ago I did it and I can't remember. My immediate reaction was that it would be coming out just exactly as it's stored in the database, but that's ordered by message board and then by the thread ID (just in order of the thread age), but they're not showing like that, so not sure. I could go back and look at the code, but if it's okay with you C, I can't be arsed at the moment.

UPDATE: I have just been arsed, and it gets the stuff from the database, which would be ordered by message board, but it then sticks them in to a hash table, which means that it's pretty much indeterminate what order they will be read out from.

Keith, Monday, 30 April 2018 22:19 (eight years ago)

If I'd stuck them in a list, rather than a hash table, then they would have come out in the same order as the database. It's that it is a hash table that makes it pretty much random. Can't remember why I did it that way, but there was most likely a reason, just lost in the mists of time and I really can't be arsed going and figured out why.

Keith, Monday, 30 April 2018 22:23 (eight years ago)

linkedhashmap would work, eh

mh, Monday, 30 April 2018 23:14 (eight years ago)

so much arsing

mookieproof, Monday, 30 April 2018 23:37 (eight years ago)

haha! thanks Keith! Now I can forget about it rather than trying to make sense of it.

Heavy Messages (jed_), Tuesday, 1 May 2018 00:45 (eight years ago)

I’ve done the exact same thing in programming tbh

mh, Tuesday, 1 May 2018 01:22 (eight years ago)

Yes, a LinkedHashMap would have done it, I guess, if I'd thought about ordering at all at the time, although I would also have had to beam eight years forward in time to bring it back to 2006 when I wrote it.

i'm having problems posting to the weinstein thread - did i get threadbanned or... ?

maura, Saturday, 5 May 2018 17:18 (eight years ago)

three months pass...

so for awhile now i've been getting poxy fuled anytime i click on a link in a thread to another message or thread on ILX. specifically it takes me to a poxy fule page where i'm no longer logged in.

any idea why this might be occurring? i was going to try to clear my history and cache or w/e but preferred not to if i could avoid it.

if there was a prize for most times you fruitlessly went to ilxor.com AGAIN during the outage from sheer muscle memory i think i would win it

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Friday, 2 November 2018 14:13 (seven years ago)

There is a sandbox, but it's hosted on the same box for cheapness reasons so it went down too. I did eventually remember to post a note at status.ilxor.com tho

has the fiddly bit that brings you to the first unread post in a previously visited thread broke

its been opening threads a good few pages up for me the past few days

unproven (darraghmac), Thursday, 8 November 2018 00:23 (seven years ago)

also the little blobs that let you choose when voting in a poll have vanished for me (in chrome)

this doesn't matter as polls are bad (and you should feel bad) but they're also not working in the search function when you choose thread or post

mark s, Thursday, 8 November 2018 00:27 (seven years ago)

great another non voter lecturing us

unproven (darraghmac), Thursday, 8 November 2018 00:30 (seven years ago)

if polls improved ilx they'd be illegal

mark s, Thursday, 8 November 2018 00:31 (seven years ago)

little blobs still not visible

is it bcz i upgraded to macOS MOHAVE on monday in which case may 'oumuamua return and rain death on us all
